- Nursery Tour: Welcome to Walton's WorldToday
-
Name: Walton, 3 months Location: Arlington, VA We haven't had the pleasure of meeting Walton so we can't attest that his soothing room, painted in a placid blue, has rubbed off on his temperament, but we like to think it has. But don't let the tranquil walls fool you, his parents, Jen and Stockton, have put together a space for him that's serene, but definitely not sterile. It's filled with books, toys and art organized so as not to overtake this small space. Come, take a look...
What was your overall inspiration or goal for Walton's space?
We wanted the room to be fun, not overly gender-specific or child-oriented, and filled with a mix of new things and meaningful old things. I’ve always loved trees and leaves, and I fell in love with the ABC and 123 posters that have birds and trees mixed in with the letters and numbers. The posters served as the starting point a - Happy Birthday, Hattie!Today

Happy Birthday to Hattie, who celebrated her first birthday this week.
Stephanie says, She is a very happy baby and smart too! She knows and uses 30 signs. Ha! Do I sound like a typical mom?

-
If, like us, you have the best of intentions when it comes to teaching your children the value of sending thank-you notes, but, like us, you tend to fall down on execution, this creative idea from Amy at Doubleh-Vay is both personal and easy.
Amy's directions are straightforward:
Read Amy's full post on Doubleh-Vay. (We especially love the dream job she says she'd love to have someday: driving around the country in an Airstream and teaching people the lost art of handwriting love letters.)1. Take a photo of child with gift. 2. Ask the child how the gift makes them feel. 3. Write that sentiment on the blackboard along with thank you. 4. Print photo and include with simple handwritten child signature or scribble scrabble.

-

You know we like to get our hands on all types of kid-sized dishes and food containers. Over the holidays, we saw this Little Bento Box at a friend's house and had to have it for ourselves.
We like the traditional tiffin box styling in vibrant melamine. Each bento box is dishwasher safe, but cannot be microwaved. Just a note -- the containers are 5" tall and is 2" x 4.75" in diameter. It's smaller than you think but it's perfect for a toddler. You can get it here for $24.
