NewsGator has added a new feature to its rss arsenal. Thanks to its partnership with AideRSS it now has Thematic Post Rank in its services [Source]. But what exactly does this mean?
This means that NewsGator can now offer a more focused and personalized (Customizavle) RSS reading. In other words it can enhance the punters RSS reading experience. Give it more value.
This seems to be the other twin of how to promote RSS. (i) Others offer a service to simplify RSS feeds and (ii) others offer a service to enhance RSS feeds.
This is not a bad development at all and this because it aims to satisfy two potential camps of information users: (i)Those who want to keep it simple and (ii) those who want to have enhanced value service.

I have been using Plurk or plurking for the past weeks and it is addictive but at the same time frustrating - not as frustrating as twitter but it still is frustrating.
Do not get me wrong. I really like Plurk and this because: (i) It keeps you updated on what your friend does or is thinking about; (ii) It keeps you connected; (iii)Its conversation on tap. Each plurk that is a potential conversation.
And from a casual observer it is interesting to see how the conversation progresses. Maybe that is why it is addictive.

But that is another story.
What is frustrating about Plurk at the moment is that (I)its alert system is not functioning properly. You get alerted whenever somebody sends a friendship or fan request but not when a friend posts. (II) It might also help if you can view Plurk via the clique function as well.
Anyway those were some suggestion on how to improve Plurk.

Mobile Internet aggregator Mobispine AB has acquired Web based feed reader NewsAlloy. The acquisition seems to be aimed at providing users a seamless product that can be viewed both on the mobile phones and PCs.
Acquisition is an interesting word. Often we hear mergers and acquisition. But when one hears the word acquisition it has very different meaning. Merger means the joining of two or more companies while acquisition means the purchase of one company by another.
Nothing negative really. It just implies the direction the two companies are going to take. And
Mobispine, which now has 300,000 plus active mobile users per month, will make use of NewsAlloy to drive momentum to reach its goal of reaching 10 million users.And they do this by providing improved and easy-to-use service.
Mobispine is available as a free download for Internet-enabled mobile phone.
Other features or services offered by Mobispine include but no limited to the following:

- Save datatime,
- The unique feed search function makes it easy to search the feeds.

One of the highest circulation newspaper in the World, the Sun, is now offering an RSS desktop widget that not only delivers the news but will also feature something more. Called the Desktop Keeley RSS widget once downloaded the reader will alert you when there are story updates with videos of th Sun’s page 3 model Keeley Hazell. [Source]
Call it a sight for sore eyes. This is a desktop reader Benny Hill would have loved. The videos to be shown involves Hazell in different outfits, writing and doing magic tricks on the desktop.
The widget was developed by the in-house development team of the newspaper with the viral marketing agency Glue. The widget was developed using Adobe Air - ” a technology that allows developers to build desktop applications that work across a range of computer operating systems.[Source]
This is probably one of the more interesting RSS reeaders to be developed so far.

Canada based- AideRSS Inc has a few new things up it sleeves this month. And they just launched them: (i)PostRank.com; (ii)Thematic PostRank (iii)Google Reader Extension; (iv)and more APIs (plus more).[Source]
(i) PostRank.com website
PostRank is now a service independent from AideRSS. WHat this means is that a developler can integrate or use PostRank in an application.
(ii) Thematic PostRank™
This gives the user or developer to arbitrarily rank a set of online articles. It does not have to come from the same feed source
(iii) Google Reader Extension with Thematic PostRank
Thematic PostRank can now be used in Google Reader.
(iv) New APIs and more data sources
More powerful APIs. This means a more faster and caching delay free service. Also it seems that the widh and breadth of the service has been expanded with new sources.
More tools for us infophiles both users and producers.
