2008 gift guide: $100 and underYesterday

today’s gift guide is my final budget-related installment: everything $100 and under. tomorrow i’ll be continuing with ac’s guides for guys and the second installment of the blogger’s wishlist guide. until then, here is a roundup of great budget-friendly gifts that won’t top $100. there are a few pieces i missed from earlier this week so you’ll see a few under $25 and under $50 items in there, but i figured they were still under $100 so it would be ok to throw them in. hope you enjoy the list and happy gifting! if you missed any of the other guides from this week just click here.

sneak peek: wonderfactory officeYesterday

since i work most days from my living room it’s hard to imagine going to work at an office again- but if i did, i definitely wouldn’t complain about going to work at this office. david link, founder and creative director of the wonderfactory (which focuses on branding and website strategy among other services) sent over these gorgeous shots of their new office design. each room seems to have it’s own unique feel and i love the way they’ve incorporate some whimsical elements like the umbrellas into the decor. it sure beats white walls and cubicles everywhere. click here for more photos of the wonderfactory office, and click here for more on wonderfactory (check out their portfolio and client list, it’s pretty darn impressive). thanks, david!

uxus design’s mcvillageYesterday

the images are from a children’s play area designed by uxus design for a mcdonald’s near amsterdam. uxus’ goal was to create an environment where children could learn about food from the farm to the market to the table. it sure beats the ball pits and slides i remember when i was little. click here for more information on uxus design. d*s readers breanne kostyk and dan gavin found this cool telephone bench while walking home from the subway one day. they decided to update it with some woodgrain fabric and a coat of paint and tada- a brand new look! thanks for sharing, breanne and dan.

master furniture upcycle-er shelly leer found these discarded restaurant chairs at a consignment shop in indiana and decided to upgrade them with new cushions and fabric (”sita cranberry” at calico corners). her complete project (with instructions) is right here. great work, shelly!
