Last night was rough for me and heroics. I can’t tell if it was me and my heals were just “off” or if it was something more. I really can’t tell. I’ve healed many heroics and lots of them were a cool breeze. Just the other day I went and healed a heroic UK run and we one-shot the whole thing. Even Ingvar the Plunderer was an absolute pushover. It was a joke to heal. Not only that but the warrior tank had 539 defense and 22,000 health… buffed.
Then, last night I went in to heroic COS and it was wipe after wipe. Granted, at least three of those wipes were the Duid tank’s direct fault. I should not have elites beating my face in while I’m trying to heal. But I’ve healed heroic COS before, and I had 300 less spell power than I have now. I tend to blame the tank on my difficulties last night. In bear form he had 28,000 health. I have a suspicion that that’s very low for a druid tank. It’s great for a warrior or Paladin or Death Knight because they can dodge, parry and block but a druid just soaks up each hit. I say I blame the tank because there was more than one time when this happened:
- I see he just got hit (small damage, 500 or so)
- I begin casting Holy Light
- Tank is dead before Holy Light gets off (2.34 second cast)
- Fruitful Naxxramas 10 ManJanuary 3

Last night I had the opportunity to join a 10 man Naxxramas raid last night. I was the only Holy Paladin and as such was virtually guaranteed any plate drops that had intellect. After seven hours we had cleared all of Naxx up to Kel’Thuzad (didn’t down him as it was 2:30am and we were all falling asleep on our keyboards) and I had received five pieces of T7 gear. Two of them were chests, one shoulder, one shield and one ring. My healing ability just got a HUGE boost. For those interested (not including the second chest):
So now I’m one emblem short of getting my neck which feels pretty darn good. Sometimes it pays well to be a class that has gear no one else wants ;)
- Thoughts on being a Holy PaladinDecember 31 2008

I got the idea to write down some thoughts on this subject after reading this post. I’ve been healing on my Paladin for just about a month now and I’ve generated a few opinions and/or observations. As usual, take them all with a grain of salt
- I am starting to dislike Warlocks. It’s one thing to life tap after a fight is done (though I don’t know why you can’t just drink like the rest of us) but when you pull that crap in the middle of a fight because you’re OOM it just makes my job harder. Don’t do it. If your mana pool can’t even last a full fight then you’re doing something wrong. Also, if you life tap while you’re taking damage or when you’re not at full health you should expect to die.
- DPS sometimes takes waaaaay too long to kill a mob. Here’s a tip for all you DPSers out there: unless told to do otherwise just attack the target that the tank is hitting. It’s not foolproof, a better solution is to have a main assist, but if you don’t have one this is the best way to complete the fight in a timely fashion.
- Dear DPS: please remain in my line of sight. I know sometimes it’s not easy to do but trust me, it’s easier for you to stay in LoS so I can heal you than it is for me to reposition.

- Jason Bourne Is My HomeboyDecember 23 2008

Some of you may not know this, but Jason Bourne is my homeboy. The man could kill you with a Kleenex and still be able to wipe up the blood with it afterward.
The Bourne series, simply put, is one of the best sets of movies out there.
- Ret Paladin Gear to Get Pre-RaidDecember 22 2008

First, it’s worth pointing out that I’ve given up healing as a Paladin. I actually did a pretty good job at it, I mean, considering I had no previous experience with it at all. But it was just too stressful for me. For some reason I can tank and not be nervous because I can rely on my gear and my healer to protect me. But as a healer, it’s ALL skill. Who needs what heal when. And at the same time you have to make sure you’re positioning yourself so you don’t take too much damage. In short, I’m convinced now that healing is one of the most difficult roles to play in World of Warcraft.
That said, I’m back doing what I love and that’s dealing Retribution. I do pretty darn well at it too, I must say. I’ve put regular instances behind me and am consistently running heroics with guildies and occasionally a PUG.
I’m sure there are other, probably better lists of gear on the Net that have been put together for pre-raid Ret Pallies but I tend to not like them too much. I basically want a listing of gear that is fairly simple to obtain (i.e. doesn’t require 3,000g to get materials for) and then let me choose the gear I want. So that’s why I’ve put this list together.
Basically what you see is a selection of gear that drops in each heroic instance. After that I looked to see what gear I could get crafted if the heroic is just stingy and doesn’t drop the item I need. Then at the end I’ve li
