- Truphone app for iPod touch turns device into a mobile phoneYesterday
-
Here I am, still ruminating over whether or not I should cave and get an iPhone at Canada's exorbitant rates, when I get wind of this news: telephony company, Truphone has unveiled a FREE (2nd Gen) iPod touch version of its VoIP app. All I would need is a set of those earbuds with the built-in microphone like the ones they sell at Apple Stores for the iPhone, and I could make voice calls over WiFi.

The app is free, calls to other Truphone users are free as are calls to Google Talk users.
Is this going to stop me from getting an iPhone? Probably not. Most places that I can get free wifi (my house, my job, etc.), I also have access to a phone. I don't think this application is going to lose Apple any iPhone sales, but it might sell a few more iPod touches to people would never have bought either device before.

If memory serves (and with each passing year, it serves a bit less accurately) Blambot usually offers a festive FREE font during the month of December. This year, the free font isn't all that Christmassy but does hava classic comic lettering style: Marooned on Mars.

Nate Piekos, the font's creator, describes it as a classic, sci-fi, brush-style font to "trumpet the arrival of your new alien overlords!" It's beauteous. - Koi Pond iPhone app offers ''Holiday Mode''November 21

Koi Pond is a cute little inexpensive iPhone/iPod touch app that invites you to gaze in and relax while watching playful koi fish swim. You can run your fingers over the surface of the water to hear the gentle splashing...but don't be surprised if you scare the fish away. Don't worry though; they'll be back and you can even feed them from your fingertips.

In the latest update pushed to Koi Pond users, a Holiday Mode was added that features 2 new Holiday koi, holly leaves, festive lights, special holiday koi food (please do not feed gingerbread men and candy canes to real koi) and when you shake your iPhone, you'll hear sleigh bells.
Koi Pond sells for $0.99. - Super Stickies, Hidden Prefs and SchedulingNovember 21
