Web 3.0 Will Be About Reducing the Noise-And Twhirl Isn't Helping - (2 of 96)September 17

Erick Schonfeld 46 comments » It's my own damn fault. I should have never listened to Mike. This morning I installed Twhirl on my desktop in a failed attempt to keep up better with Twitter and Friendfeed. I was hoping it would help me manage the never-ending flow of information from those two services-which, I admit, I've been increasingly ignoring... [Source: http://www.techcrunch.com]

This is "THE BEST" tutorial that I've ever seen for durpal. CCK+Views always scared me away and I always avoided using them. But since with my new website I had to have some facility which can only be implemented by CCK+Views this video podcast has been very helpful.

I would like if you make advanced CCK+Views video podcast. And please, Panels video podcast too.

Thanks.

by Avatar Stumble this! April 17th 2008 I have been talking a lot about Lifestreaming, Lifecasting and Social Awareness Widgets lately and it is not because i want to give Mark Krynsky some competition, i am not, he is doing a great job already. it is simply because there is a lot of buzz on that niche right now. and of that buzz, there are Widgets... Thanks for the kind words Derek…and no worries I'm also a Lifestreaming evangelist and appreciate others furthering the concept for each of the respective niches. Widgets and badges are a huge part of it.

Many of the services offer widgets. I list some on my comparison page here and also some nice ones from MyBlogLog & Lifestream.fm. There's also a site dedicated to building a Lifestream badge here http://www.escaloop.com/.

That should keep you busy reviewing widgets for a while. I'm here to help and I look forward to watching your Lifestream category list grow!

That's the one thing that nags at me about FriendFeed and Plaxo Pulse, another service that hosts comments about items on its domain. Rather than help distribution, feeding my stuff into these services results in yet another place to check on a conversation.

Rather than help distribution, the service dilutes attention.

Jeremy, Ian,

We are definitely working on an API so Jeremy can accomplish some of what he wants in terms of pulling comments out of FriendFeed. However, it is worth noting that one goal we are attempting to solve is less related to "attention" as I think Ian intends the term to mean.

One of the problems with, e.g., comments on blogs or comments on YouTube or comments on Digg, is that they are public forums, so they tend to attract the lowest common denominator of discourse (flame wars, basically). That is not a hard rule, but I think it is generally true for sufficiently large "public" communities. One of our hopes with FriendFeed discussions was to limit comments to your (lo
