In the film and television arenas, comedy seems to be playing a significant role in this process. God, Inc., a web series described as a combination of The Office, Dead Like Me, Lost and Desperate Housewives, has been picked up by the Sci-Fi Channel for development. Certain technological tools that scan the web are helping forecast - with a fair amount of accuracy - upcoming events ranging from flu outbreaks to natural disasters and turbulence in financial markets. Instead of employing the usual conscious marketing techniques, trailblazers are not so much emphasizing what Internet users are buying to shed light on future trends, but rather the subconscious use of - and searches for - certain key words and phrases.

For a Brief Time Only...: The latest work of action art from Brooklyn artist David Horvitz (Things For Sale That I Will Mail You) is this purchasable photo exhibition, featuring 24 artists, entitled For a Brief Time Only At a Location Near You. While Things For Sale... required Horvitz to take action on behalf of patrons, this new work requires patrons to participate if they want to see the payoff. The "exhibit" of 24 4x6 photos is available at any number of photo developers (i.e. any drugstore that will upload and print files from the Internet) in the US and Canada.
