Whereupon We Bid You A Fond Farewell...September 25
..as some of you (or may not) have heard, Uber is shutting its doors. I'd like to take a second to thank the staff at Uber for all their help with our Little Blog That Could - as well as the Fabulous Geek Girls - Felicia, Karen, and Kathryn, for their brilliance and brains.

I don't know what the future is for Antisocial Networking - we may take our show on the road, I may open under a different blog - I haven't exactly figured it out yet.

Thanks everyone for your kindness and support. As always you can find me here.

Love and Rockets.

The Monday Morning Meme - Toys!September 22
243796015_63We post a different question every Monday morning. You answer in the comments, strike up conversations with each other, and generally get social! The questions will range from fluff and fun to deep and thoughtful.

There's only one rule, and it's very simple: PLAY NICE. You may not like what someone else has to say, but don't be a jerk. Debate is encouraged, flaming is not.

Without further ado, here is this Monday Morning Meme:

Did you have a favorite toy growing up? Do you still have that toy?

If you have a question that would be great for the MMM, feel free to send them my way at talia.phoenix (at) gmail.com!

The Geek's Guide to Not Getting It On.September 19
Yesterday, my favorite ChickBlog (and the site that makes my husband nervous) Jezebel had a post called A Guy's Guide to Not Getting It On, which listed common mistakes guys make in trying to access the pearly pink gates. At least, I'm assuming they're common mistakes. Reading over the twenty-item list, I wondered who these women were dating, as I had never in all of my years of dating, encountered any of these issues.

Which made me wonder - who was I dating?

Nerds.

In the first draft of my unfinished self-help guide, The Geeks' Guide to Girls (which was the inspiration for this site, natch), I wrote:

Why am I writing this? Because I want to get you laid.

But you can substitute "laid" for "a date" or "a girlfriend" or "a fling."

It's not that I think everyone has to be paired off two-by-two, but the common cry of the NerdBoy is that girls aren't interested. So I thought why not make a list mistakes that Nerds make. I'll start, but feel free to add to this list in the comments.

1. Advertising how long it is since you've gotten laid/been in a relationship.
I will never, for the life of me, figure out why guys do this. It's like you're letting everyone know that you're past y

Addicted to tech.September 17
Hi, my name is Karen, and I'm addicted to tech.

243796015_72This is not my desk. But it could have been, a year ago.
I find myself going to Best Buy and stroking the mp3 players lovingly. I walk by the phone section and fondle the phones when no one's looking. I cruise Gizmodo for new cameras. It's so hard when my Dell catalog comes in every month - I flip through the pages and get the shakes. When Apple released the new iPods the other week I got those deep cravings in my gut. Ohh, how I love tech.

It started out small, I suppose. I bought my first Palm in 2002; it was a refurbished model and cost me $80 at Best Buy. It was convenient because I was working an office manager job and had to keep track of the managers' appointments all day long. Then a couple of years later they released a new version, the Tungsten E, and it came with an mp3 player. I got that for Xmas. I could keep track of my appointments and retail work schedule. I enjoyed being organized and having a few good songs with me all the time. I even upgraded my SD card so I could have mo

Oh No She Didn't!September 15

This year's Presidential Election has everyone on the edge of their seats. And not so much because of the McCain/Obama issue. It's because of Sarah Palin and her fashionable glasses. She's getting tons of attention on her glasses. Glasses that, as nerds, are our signature trademark.

Borrowed from the LA Times Blog.

She sports a pair of glasses and it's suddenly 'the new look.' Where's our recognition for having worn glasses for so long?

Perhaps it's just me, but I feel a little neglected. I have been known to rock the designer frames from time to time. This pair was Calvin Klein. This pair was Nike. And my newest pair hails from Coach (with tiny
