Thoughts for the Gulf CoastSeptember 13 2008

I have many friends in the region still feeling the effects of Hurricane Ike.

In situations like this, I certainly feel helpless other than to listen to the various reports, and point to good sources of information, which I was doing on Friendfeed and elsewhere throughout the night.

The raw footage now coming in from Texas, parts of Louisiana and elsewhere is not pretty.

Note:  At this hour (11 AM ET Saturday), the National Weather Service is still issuing ombinous warnings for the coastal communities for high tide and what will result.  It’s far from over.

Having been through a Cat-3 and a weather ‘hobbyist’ (and occasional storm chaser) for as long as I can remember, I can remember vividly what it can look like afterward.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all, especially those who are still being rescued.

The first responders, Coast Guard, State and Local Police and Fire Departments, local employees and officials and those who weathered the storm simply because ‘they thought they could help’ are the heroes.

It’s always a shame when it takes a disaster to pull everyone together, as has been repeated so many times.

Kudos to the many that tried to do what they could on the Internet, Radio, TV, and other media.
