Vista Blog

A blog about Windows Vista and other Microsoft Products

\We have moved!–Take 2*UPDATE 2*January 13 2007

Ok, let’s try this again…….Remember I told you we where moving? Well, today the payment through and my domain activated. The blog now has a new Vista related theme! The only problem is, the domain name is long. The domain name is http://vistablog.gamerzworldnetwork.net/ but don’t worry! When Microsoft opens Monday, I will get www.gzwn.net transferred over from Office Live to my new host, so it will be vistablog.gzwn.net/. Also when we get a new name, I will see about getting a new domain for it as well. [Note: you HAVE to put www in front of the domain until the DNS propagates fully!!] [If the site is not working, it's out of my hands. I am also having problems accessing the site some times. Give it a day to spread the DNS around]

Windows Home Server Information and Pictures!January 9 2007

CrunchGear has posted a picture (above) and some information about Windows Home Server. Windows Home Server is a plug ‘n play server. It lets you store any files you may need to store and share it with up to 10 other people wirelessly and you can also access your files anywhere in the world via a free custom domain. (ex: www.what ever you want.com) A rep told CrunchGear that the server has internal drives, but the storage capacity differs. Microsoft is using these as OEM devices and is customizing them to different manufacturers needs. HP is planning to release their version of Windows Home Server in Q2 of this year with a storage capacity between 500GB and 1TB. There’s also four USB ports and three extra drive bays in case you run out of storage from all that pirating. The price? Rumor has it that it will be around in the $500 range.

Windows Home Server is not a extra computer. There are no ports for a monitor, mouse, or keyboard. You will admin your Windows Home Server via an application on your regular computer.

Quick re-cap of Microsoft CES keynote.January 7 2007

I’m not going to say too much until I watch the On-Demand version but they did show some pretty cool stuff.

*Video Background: They showed Vista Ultimate with a video as a back ground.

*Picture Editing: They edited a picture with another version of the picture. They patched together a better version using the best stuff in both pictures.

*Live anywhere: They showed two people playing UNO online. One person with Vista and one with a 360.

*Xbox 360 IPTV: They showed IPTV on the 360. I don’t think they said if you have to get a new version of the 360 or not. It will be out holiday season 2007.

*Cooking with Bill Gates: Well not exactly but they showed something that reads RF-ID tags and gives you recipes the involve that product(s).

They showed more but I’ll wait until I see the keynote again. I might have some pictures and video clips later.

[EDIT: I would give you info on Windows Home Server but Microsoft cut off the demo because of intellectual property. Go figure.]
