Spotlight Gadget - EMTEC Gdium Liberty NetbookYesterday

Gdium Liberty Netbook from EMTEC

It’s another new netbook, but with a twist: this one isn’t based on the PC architecture, but on a 900 MHz 64-bit MIPS CPU (that means no Windows XP or Vista, ever) and Linux. It also has no internal storage, using form-fitting USB keys preloaded with the operating system instead. It could be ideal for Linux hackers, but does it have a shot at the mass market? Only time will tell. Check out its product page for more specs.

Merconnet Car Message Sign ReviewYesterday

carsign-intro

I don’t know about you, but I’m…shall we say…a bit of an aggressive driver. Sometimes. My last car was a Pontiac Grand Prix GT in “arrest me” red, which didn’t remotely help with my penchant for speed on the interstate. I’m sure you all have had one or two experiences with rude gestures or people yelling at you (or you doing the gesturing and yelling). We’ve all had our moments of indiscretion in our early years of driving, no?

A Week with the BlackBerry Storm SmartphoneJanuary 6
This entry is part 1 of 1 in the series A Week With The Blackberry Storm Smartphone

blackberry-storm-fp

I’ve decided to approach my review of the BlackBerry Storm (9530) Smartphone from Verizon differently than I normally would. Instead of using the phone for several days and posting a complete review all at once, I’m going to journal my experiences with this phone over the next seven days. Be sure to come back each day to see how this phone is working for me and what my final thoughts are at the end of the week.

Spotlight Gadget - Brando QTV Digital Photo FrameJanuary 6

qtv-digitalframe

This little digital photo frame from Brando has to be the cutest one I’ve seen yet. It has two media slots - USB and SD. The resolution is only 320 x 234, but it not only shows your photos, but can play MP3 and MP4 files as well. All for $89.00.

Spotlight Gadget - SanDisk Ultra Backup USB Portable Flash DriveJanuary 6

sandisk-backup

How’s this for a tiny backup system? Sandisk’s new Ultra Backup USB drives come in capacities of up to 64GBs and have a button that you can press to automatically backup your files. No cables or messy software installs necessary. Security minded folks will be happy to note that they provide both password protection and AES hardware encryption. I wonder if they are OS X compatible… Hmmmmm. :)
