- Xobni Closes $7 Million Series B Financing - Bring on 2009!January 5

This past year has been very exciting for Xobni and we expect 2009 to be even better.
During 2008, we introduced Xobni to the world. We saw our product downloaded more than 1.5 million times and evolve into an application deployed by Fortune 500 enterprises. We also struck some key partnerships to help bring more of the Web into your inbox, making it easier to manage your relationships and connections.
Our goal for 2009 is to continue to expand our business and scale to meet the needs of our growing user base. Specifically, we plan to continue improvements to the quality of our product, focus on our premium business, and address the growing interest from our enterprise customer base. To achieve these goals, we set out for more funds and recently completed a $7 million Series B financing where Cisco Systems has joined our existing investors - Khosla Ventures, First Round Capital, Baseline Ventures, and Atomico - in supporting us in our vision for Xobni.

Xobni recently released its new ‘ Xobni Extensions’ feature, providing users with the option to conveniently view live details about their contacts fed from sites such as Facebook and Linked-In. These extensions have been the subject of a great response from upgraded Xobni users. We will be upgrading more Xobni users over the next several weeks.
We understand that sometimes users prefer to use more screen space for Xobni’s other helpful panels.To collapse the ‘Xobni Extensions’ panel simply click the double arrows directly to the right of the extension icons.Click again to display the ‘Xobni Extensions’ again.
Xobni also provides the user the ability to customize the Xobni sidebar with the following options:
The entire Xobni sidebar can be collapsed by clicking the double arrows found at the bottom of the Xobni sidebar.

Xobni users can now search their free Yahoo! Mail from inside the Xobni Outlook sidebar, view Facebook profile data, browse Hoover’s company profiles, and instantly initiate Skype chats and calls.

We have been quiet on our blog for a while, but the Xobni office has been buzzing away. Today we are launching the results of the last four months of hard work – Xobni has partnered with Yahoo! Mail, Facebook, Skype, and Hoover’s to bring in-depth relationship data and communication services into the Xobni Outlook sidebar. We have also extended our Linkedin integration, improved numerous elements of the Xobni interface, and made new steps in improving Xobni’s performance.

Privacy. Many companies are scared of this word and treat it as a taboo subject, but it really shouldn’t be so scary. After all, companies spend loads of time and money to put privacy policies in place, and in the end, you, and only you, should be the one making the decision on whether or not your information is shared.

Xobni Does:
Send a ping to our servers telling us that your Xobni client is being used, your email address, your IP address, how many invites have been sent and what version of Xobni you have, to help us with updates. If a user does decide to opt-in to one of our web services, such as our LinkedIn integration, we then communicate recipient email addresses for the sole purpose of retrieving their profile information from these services. The role of web developer at Xobni is one of the most diverse technical roles within the company.
Xobni’s core application is desktop software, but the places where our product touches the web are vast: web data integration (ex: LinkedIn, Yahoo search), user tracking, viral invitation campaign systems, in-application messaging systems, etc Additionally, the work that is done to understand users after we have acquired them involves an array of internal tools for measuring the effectiveness of various marketing campaigns and product improvements. Finally, everything that is done to educate and attract a user before they download Xobni is approached as a science at Xobni. All of the systems that help us achieve the above objectives are the responsibility of Xobni’s web developers. This aspect of our team is growing and we are excited to be hiring for the role of Web Developer at Xobni.
