An “iPhone” by Any Other Name…January 12 2007

By now everyone has heard about Apple’s “iPhone,” and probably Cisco’s lawsuit over the use of the name. The story goes that Apple tried to buy the name from Cisco, failed to do so, then used it anyways. Boo-hoo, now they’re being sued. I think it’s silly that Apple pulled this move. I mean the “i” thing is so played out anyways, it’s pretty much lost all its coolness. So why couldn’t they have just called it “Apple Phone” or something. They already did it with “iTV,” which is now “Apple TV,” so why go through the hassle? A company as creative as Apple should have been able to come up with some other prefix for they’re products by now. Before “i” there was “e” in front of everything, and we’ve stopped doing that! So let’s put this “i” thing to bed as well. Apple, let Cisco have they’re precious name, you’re better than that. Give us something new to attach to the front of every tech related gadget name. Please!

Profiles, Widgets & the HolidaysDecember 18 2006

Hey everyone. Is everyone as busy as we are during this time of year? Not only do we have the standard holiday stuff to deal with, but we just added some major new features to exaroom (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, login and check out your home page… go on, what are you waiting for!?).

Our long awaited profiles page is finally here. You now have your own highly customizable web page to design and create to show off your web sense of style! Not only is it cooler than most other sites, but it also has our very own web widget for sharing files built-in. With this widget on your profile page, your friends will be able to tell if your computer is online whenever they visit your page. And with a few simple clicks, see what you’re sharing. The coolest part is, this widget can be embedded into any website, not just exaroom!

Since it’s the season for giving, and giving is sharing, why not share a part of yourself on exaroom! Create a profile & share some files. Peace.

Full-Sized Halloween PhotosNovember 1 2006

To get a full-sized (3888 x 2592) version of your Halloween photo, you will need to download it from Major Tom’s shared folder. To access Major Tom’s shared folder, you will need an exaroom account. The account is FREE, and so is the photo. Enjoy!

If you are not familiar with our site, or are having trouble, here’s a step by step guide on how to download your FREE full-sized Halloween photo.

1) Find the photo you want in our Halloween gallery
2) Note the file name beneath the photo
3) Log into your exaroom account
4) Find “Major Tom” in your friends list
5) Roll over his image and click “open share”
6) In the window that pops up, click “exaroom Shared Folder”
7) Then click “All Friends”, followed by “Halloween (Castro)”
8) Locate your photo by file name and click on it
9) Click “Download” to get your full-sized photo
