Shorty (beta)October 20 2008

Well since Wizzkid gave up on posting on WizzHack, and I don’t blame him, you 500 daily viewers should be ashamed for not commenting and showing your support. I can’t “dig” on him though. I gave up a long time ago and he has had a lot more patience than “Thou art” (me). But anyway, point I am trying to make is I thought I would take over the ol’ posting for a wile, could be one post or a thousand really don’t know. So if you are reading this, COMMENT! And say something like “I read your post” just to let me know someone did!

Anyway, what is this post about? Shorty is a web based package you can install on your sever and hosting and then shorten a url much like “tinyurl”. I found it out today wile looking for just that, proving that a little googling can do anything!

For now it appears to be only for private use, as in you need to log in to use it, and why, I ask you, would someone sign up to shorten there url, wouldn’t happen! But it is useful to use around the web and promote your site.

The install was simple and it all went smoothly!

Note: This is still in beta, so it may mess up, we just don’t know! So if something goes wrong, you can leave a comment and I will try to help you out!

Thanks for reading!

Quick and easy desktop toolbarOctober 18 2008

Hey guys,

Well I’m sure a lot of you guys will already know of this feature on a windows computer… but i just found it for myself and decided to share it with you guys :D

Basically i have found a way to quickly make a desktop toolbar without having to download somebody else’s program such as “object dock”. Now obviously this is not quite as fancy, as I have not found a way to make this toolbar have layers or anything like that. However this does as a simple replacement for having shortcut icons all over your desktop. This is simple to do and is do-able in a few simple steps.

Step 1. Make a folder in your documents somewhere and fill it with the shortcuts/files that you wish to appear on your dock.

Step 2. Once you have created your folder, give it a suitable name and location in your documents.

Step 3. Copy this folder to somewhere such as your desktop and then click and drag it off the side of the screen (I’ve found the right-hand side of the screen is best).

Step 4. If you want to get rid of the icons on your desktop now (without losing them) then the way to do this is: Right click>Arrange Icons by>and then un-tick the “show desktop icons” button.

Once you have done this you should see your dock appear at the side of the screen and it should have all the shortcuts/files there that you put in the

Hey Guys,

I never really thought this time would come, but I am going to stop writing for WizzHack. I was the creator and the main author keeping this blog alive. Its a lot of work trying to keep up with the latest tech news, updating it daily is an even bigger challenge.

I’m a student as many people know. I’m in my second year, which means more work and more assessments. Also I was promoted in my part-time job which means longer and more hours. Plus I am currently training for the marathon, which is May 31st.

WizzHack has been around for just over a year and what a great year it has been!

My main idea was to sell WizzHack as a whole, but I decided not to, I am just going to try and find authors who want to take this blog on. I get on average about 200 - 300 unique visits per day (slightly less now due to not updating). If you want to start blogging. Start now!

Sorry and thanks for reading,

New Nintedo DSOctober 2 2008

Hey Guys,

newds.jpg

Well Nintendo had an event yesterday at 5am (GMT) and announced a new DS which is going to be called a DSi. I don’t know if thats taking the piss out of Apple, but all I know is it looks like a sweet device!

The new DSi will look like the NDS Lite but with dual touch screens. It will also be 12% slimmer and the screens will be larger at 3.25inches each. One thing that does surprise me is it will have two cameras. One on the front(Probably VGA) (where the mic was) and one outside(3MP)

The DSi will also have support for SD cards and have a free web browser application with a built in feature called DSi Shop, which will sell content directly over Wi-Fi. You will use the new Nintendo Points (prevously know as Wii Points).

I am sure the graphics will also be upgraded, simliar to the PSP.

The device will be released in Japan on Novembed 1st - the other people will have to wait next year.
