Zip it...we would if we couldNovember 24

(image taken from here, sorry)

So I was battling through the bustle of Oxford Street station the other evening during a particularly rowdy rush hour when I noticed a lot more police patrolling than usual. My intrigue got the better of me (as usual) and I went to get a sneaky peak at the center of the crowd forming. To my pleasant surprise the usually useless officers were giving away free oyster card wallets with 'Zip it' written on them. Pretty helpful. After picking one up though, the whole fuss seemed a little less worth it. The wallet contained warnings about keeping your belongings safe, not having your mobile poking out of your pocket and so on but nothing to actually help people do so. The wallet itself had no special or redeeming features and most importantly, no bloody zip.
Bit of a no brainer in my opinion...'Zip it you say? Oh alright then...erm, how exactly?'
Maybe this whole campaign would be a little more successful if you didn't just bark orders at people but facilitated them in keeping their stuff safe.
So close, yet so

More than a third of British adults think the streets are 'infested with children' (and some people think kids should be shot)...November 17
Children's Charity Barnado's have released a report stating that a high majority of British adults believe children are 'feral', 'vermin' 'infesting' the streets, and even, horribly, that 'they should be shot'. Scamp has a video on his blog by Barnado's that's sad and shocking, and you need only read the full report here to know we've got a huge problem on our hands as a country whose cruelty to children is tarring them with an unkind brush... Seems such a shame when we only blogged yesterday about the problems kids are facing in the UK and how it's our duty, as adults, to help them.
Calling for calm... Kodjo Yenga in The ObserverNovember 16

It's not often I get to write the sentence 'there was an intelligent, thought provoking piece in the papers today about knife crime' but Andrew Anthony's article on the death of West London's Kodjo Yenga in The Observer today has led me to write just that.

Knife crime and the problems facing youth today is something we are obviously passionate about, but one that few media agents decide to discuss without the usual stereotypes and slander slants. Anthony's article, however, introduced some brilliant voices to this saddening discussion and backed up our thoughts around media, myths and the problems propagated by turning this kids in to folk devils and turning a blind eye when it is our job, as adults to help.

So the other day we met the curious, courageous lady behind tenacious t-shirt company, I love boxie. After grabbing a greedy glimpse at the website a few weeks before I was pretty excited to meet her. The concept behind the company is something that sits so comfortably with me. It makes me do a little sigh of relief that there are people still out there with maverick, mind and money challenging schemes that break the everyday mould.
I love boxie is the antidote to people everywhere wearing the same t-shirt with the same slogan scrawled across it, things like 'make love, not war' and 'drop beats, not bombs'. All these are statements whose power and meaning are lost through mass production into commercial culture.
I love boxie lets you make your own, the service is called t-spoke (nice) and is not your regular order your own, write whatever you want on a t-shirt type thing.
Now here's the genius, here's the bit we lov
