- CoLab Orlando announces prices, opening dateOctober 10

CoLab Orlando, a planned "coworking" space for web designers, developers, programmers and other creative types, will open on November 1, according to the CoLab Web site.
The space was originally slated to open on October 1.
In addition to the opening date, CoLab has also announced the various pricing options, which range from $25 a month to use the space once a month, to $250 a month to use the space full time. There are also furnished suites adjacent to CoLab, which are available for a longer term lease.
Besides the benefits of working next to like-minded people, CoLab members will have desks, Internet access and use of amenities such as a conference room, printer and foosball table.
The $25 a month membership option has been added since the CoLab open house in August and should please people who would like to use the space

If this is true, it's a big deal. A sub $1,000 laptop would be a major coup for Apple and would bring in new customers who have wanted to buy a Mac, but couldn't afford it. Lots of rumors swirling about new Macs these days, so we'll have to wait and see what happens.

This is an interesting development. I haven't checked to see if it's true that Weather Plus is gone, but I have not the HD NBC signal breaking up from time to time.

Remember when I wrote that it was possible that Apple could sneak in one more round of new product announcements before the end of the year? Well I just got an e-mail from Apple inviting me to a special event on Tuesday. The tagline on the invitation (pictured below) says "The spotlight turns to notebooks," which pretty much confirms that the announcement has to do with laptops.
The question is whether Apple will simply refresh its existing line of laptops or introduce a new model. Speculation has been rampant on the Internet that Apple is planning an $800 laptop that would compete with many of the less expensive laptops on the market. A sub $1,000 laptop would be a big deal for Apple because breaking that price barrier will likely bring in new customers who have wanted to buy a Mac but couldn't afford it.

This Sunday at 8 a.m., the EA Sports Madden Challenge makes a stop at the Florida Mall.
The Madden Challenge is an 18-city tour where gamers compete for a spot in the Madden Challenge Finals, which will be held January 11 to 14 at Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort and Spa. Finalists will compete for $85,000 in total prizes. Madden NFL Football is produced at EA's Tiburon studio in Maitland.
The Orlando event is the last stop on the Madden Challenge tour. You must You can register in person, but EA strongly suggests that you register online before the event.
You're bound to face some tough competition at the event, but don't worry, you won't have to face this guy (EA employees aren't allowed to compete).

If you consider yourself a member of the creative industry or spend your days using tools such as Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, InDesign, CSS or Dreamweaver, you may want to check out Create Chaos, a huge conference taking place next week at the Orlando World Center Marriott.
Create Chaos is actually a bunch of different conferences rolled into one that may appeal to people in the following industries: graphic design, advertising, film and video production, animation, photography, printing, Web and publishing.
There will be several keynote speeches, including one by Lee Cockerell, the former executive vice president of operations at the Walt Disney World Resort.
You can register online and registration options range from $45 to nearly $1,000.
There's also an ad-hoc event taking place called BarCampChaos. BarCampChaos is free to attend and registering for this event will get you access to the Create Chaos Expo hall (which normally costs $45).
