- Tekzilla at Macworld/CES 2009January 5
-
Tomorrow starts the busiest week of my year (Tokyo Game Show notwithstanding) so I wanted to give everyone a heads up on what’s going on with Tekzilla this week!
Tuesday:
We’ll be at the (Jobs-less) Keynote, and then roaming the show floor at Macworld trying to find the coolest stuff to put on the show. There’s a Macrumors party that evening that I’d like to attend, depending on my exhaustion levels. For live coverage, make sure you watch Ryan’s liveblogging at gdgt!Wednesday:
CES baby! We’re all flying down to Vegas in the afternoon. Digital Experience is that night, which always has something interesting to see.Thursday/Friday/Saturday:
Live Tekzilla at 4pm at the NBC/Revision3 booth (Central Hall #12133). Come see me and Patrick record the show, which should last about 30 minutes or so. We’ll have a ton of new products to show off, most of which I can’t talk about yet. :/
I’m also hoping I might be able to pop into Buzz Out Loud for a little reunion show, but we’ll see!Saturday night:
We’re having a Tekzilla party at the Double Down Saloon! We’re probably going to get things rolling around 8pm, but I’ll send updates to - Start off the New Year with an iPod shuffle [Contest]December 18 2008
-

Last week the guys over at Golden Shellback, who make “splashproof” coatings for gadgets, sent me a 1GB silver iPod shuffle (splashproofed, of course). Since I already have an iPhone to listen to my tunes on I thought it would be fun to give it away here on the site! The “contest” is going to be very simple:
1. Leave a comment telling me what your New Year’s resolution is.
2. Post before Dec. 31st, 2008 at 11:59 PM EST.
3. I’ll randomly select one of the comments via number generator! Please make sure to use a valid email address in the email field when you’re posting so I can contact you. I’ll give you a couple of days to respond… if you don’t, I’ll pick another random number. Good luck!
Disclaimer: Golden Shellback did not ask me to blog this, nor have I received any kind of compensation for this post. This is simply a contest to say “thank you” to my readers and to spread a little holiday cheer!
- Happy Holidays!December 13 2008
-
Since I couldn’t send each and every one of you a holiday card, we sat down and tried to make a little video greeting. Unfortunately, Devo and Mr. Littlejeans weren’t as interested in the idea as I was.
So please have a safe and happy holidays! I would have sang a more holiday non-specific song, but I couldn’t think of any.

Veronica, Ryan, Devo and Mr. Littlejeans - Kanye West gets a “tweetposter”December 7 2008
-
Kanye West is a little upset about being impersonated on Twitter. There have always been celebrity impostors on the site (and a growing number of real celebs actively using it), but Kanye seems to get a little more sensitive about this kind of thing: he’s much more hands-on with his audience than the average star, so it’s natural that he would take it a bit more personally when someone steps in on that territory.
As Twitter grows, I wonder how they’ll treat this kind of situation. Do they immediately turn over the false account, as may have been done for the also tech-saavy Al Gore? And how does a celeb (if they’re not the blogging sort, like Mr. West) prove that they’re the real deal? I guess we’ll find out shortly, depending on what Kanye decides to post in the coming days.

- Sixth Photo MemeDecember 3 2008
-
Len hit me with a photo meme, so I’m honor bound to continue the menace tradition. Here are the rules:
“It works like this: if you use Flickr, go to the sixth page of your photostream and pick the sixth picture there, then post it to your blog.”
OK! You see the result above, which was taken from the Halloween party at Future US, where I work to produce Qore. Seems fitting, since I’ve been playing so much Left 4 Dead and Fallout 3 that I see zombies in my dreams almost every single night. It’s becoming an issue.
Now it’s time for the fun part: tagging someone else! Here are the lucky six: Ryan Block, Tom Merritt, Casey McKinnon, Lan Bui, Ariel Waldman and Felicia Day. If you don’t carry on the meme, just know that you’ll have utterly let me down and that we may never be friends again. No
