Maravilhosa banda estadunidense, formada em 1989, em São Francisco, percursora do emo (ou slowcore, ou alternativo, ou até o tal do shoegaze). Melancolicamente sofisticado, extremamente sensível, musical pra caralho, inteligente; Maduro, tem influências muito bem medidas do folk. Obrigatório pra quem ouviu aí o codeine e curtiu. Concluindo, se por raras vezes eu indiquei de forma tão veemente uma banda, é porque vale a pena mesmo.Red House Painters (1993)

"One thing Dublin isn't short of is songwriters, so it's not as if one-man band Richie Egan has much novelty value. He does have a black-humoured way with words, and, as Jape, sets them to beats and electronic squiggles idiosyncratic enough to make cult stardom feasible. Hot Chip fans will appreciate his fey-but-edgy quality, which has been saddled with the label "stoner folk". His listless singing melds surprisingly well with his adventures at the twiddly end of electronica, and he hasn't neglected to add radio-loving hooks. The opener, Christopher and Anthony, jiggles along so naggingly that you find yourself singing along to a song about Christian saints and lions, and Graveyard squelches and bumps along just as winningly.
