- socialmedian seesmic (and likes it!)November 20
-
We added another site to the socialmedian family today, seesmic. socialmedian users can now automatically have their seesmic videos shared with their networks and followers on socialmedian.

Seesmic provides anyone with an innovative way to communicate and connect online through video conversation. Some have described it as a sort of video twitter -- people post short video messages to each other and in response to blog posts and discussions.
For our first implementation of seesmic, socialmedian users will be able to auto-feed their seesmic videos to their socialmedian page, and in doing so automatically share their seesmic videos with their socialmedian networks and followers.
To connect your seesmic feed:
1. Go to "Add Something" at the top of any socialmedian page
2. Click on "Site"
3. Then click on the seesmic icon. Enter your seesmic username and you're good to go. It's that easy.
- Obama Transition To Power: The WidgetNovember 19
-
One of the most popular topics on socialmedian right now is the Obama Transition to Power. What will an Obama White House look like? Who will get which jobs? What will his initial priorities be? Where will his kids go to school?
One of the most popular user requests on socialmedian is for widgets -- the ability to take a piece of socialmedian and add dynamic content to your own website or blog.
Today we're excited to launch the socialmedian Obama Transition To Power Widget
This widget provides a live feed of news stories and user activities related to Obama's transition to power.
Click here to grab this widget and put it on your own site. You can resize the widget to fit your website or blog and customize various settings on the widget. An example of a smaller version of the widget is in the right-hand sidebar on this blog.
- socialmedian gets QikNovember 12
-
We just added a new site feed for socialmedian, Qik.
Qik is an extraordinary product which enables you to send live video streams from your mobile phone to the web.
socialmedian users can now connect their Qik accounts to socialmedian and thus have all their Qik videos instantly shared with their followers and networks on socialmedian.
Why did we do Qik so quickly? It kinda gets back to working on products that we want to use. I just got a new Blackberry Bold which has a video camera so I'm going to be testing Qik as a way to send video from my blackberry to socialmeidan. And, since I'm testing it, everyone else should get a shot to do the same.
To connect your Qik to socialmedian:
1. Go to "Add Something > Site > Qik
2. Enter your Qik username. You can also set it up for just videos with certain tags to get loaded to socialmedian.
Pretty darn simple, eh?
Please pass along feedback on how it works for you.
Next up -- also in the video category -- we plan to add Seesmic.

If you will be at MMF, connect your Twitter, Flickr, YouTube and other accounts to add your - socialmedian Upgrades "Replize" With Auto-Complete For ContactsNovember 6
-
User engagement on socialmedian has taken off dramatically since we launched "replize" about 4 weeks ago. Replize enables any user to post a comment to another user by including their @username in the reply. This makes a comment more of an ongoing public discussion and debate between users vs. just posting a comment to a webpage.
Today we launched a cool enhancement to replize: Auto-Complete for Contacts. With this release, socialmedian users can easily include any of their socialmedian contacts (people they are following or people who are following them) by simply typing "@" and the first few letters of the person's username. socialmedian will then bring up a list of users you are connected to and you can select which of them to include.
In this screen-capture, for example, I want to include Louis Gray in this discussion. All I need to do is type "@lo" and socialmedian auto-completes to show me all of my matching contacs. I can then choose louisgray from the list and add him to my comment. Louis then gets a notification that he has been included in this story.
