Subway Map Strings to TranslateAugust 21 2008
This is a list of strings used on the subway map and is intended to make translating the subway map easier.

To see which strings in this list have and have not been translated in your language, first select your language on the subway map, then come back here and click here

If you speak more than one language and would like to help translate the subway map, make a copy of the untranslated strings in this list for your language, type up the translations on your computer and save them in a text file (microsoft word, plain text, or just an email will do), and email them to us at will@onnyturf.com. We'll put them in the system. Make sure you include the english version along side your translated version, otherwise we won't know what goes with what.

Subway Map Translations ProjectJune 23 2008

Overview

The template system of this website, and thus the onNYTurf Subway Map, support an infinite number of translations. However some translations are more complete then others. Improving the translations on this site is most important for the Subway Map, therefore we have created this project to ask the community to help improve the translations of the Subway Map components.

How To Get Involved

Translating the Subway Map is easy. This website provides a list of strings used on the Subway Map (as well as the rest of the site). Creating a translation is as simple as getting a copy of the list and translating any strings that still need to be done. Then just email the translations to will@onnyturf.com and we'll put them into the system.

Sample Translations

If you want to see the Subway Map in another language, use the language panel under OPTIONS on the map.

Strings Reference

All strings listed on the subway map are conveniently listed here: Subway Map Strings to Translate

The easiest way for you to do translations is to use this list. This shows specifically what strings need to be translated for the Subway Map. And if you select a language

Special Information for People Ticketed or Arrested During Rides in NYC

Freewheels Bicycle Defense Fund has a variety of resources for helping people who have been ticketed or arrested by the NYPD.

Freewheels can be found on the web at http://bicycledefensefund.org. The site includes a new guide to ticket summons which has great information about what is a real charge and what is not and how to answer them. Note: the NYPD is handing out tickets for "violations" that are not even real laws. If you are ticketed the Freewheels guide is a must read.

Freewheels also has information for arresties and a loaner-bike program where they lend you a bike to use, if yours has been taken by the police, until you can get yours back.

Upcoming Rides

The Critical Mass bike rides happen the last Friday of the month, every mont
