Metacafe Launches WikicafeToday

Metacafe became the first video site to open its metadata for community contributions and editing. Metacafe’s more than 34 million unique monthly viewers can now add and improve the tags, titles, descriptions and more for any of the millions of videos on the site. This feature, called Wikicafe, is central to Metacafe’s campaign to eliminate tag abuse and improve video search and recommendations. The additional benefit to this mechanism is that this may help to make the in-video advertisements contextually more accurate and Metacafe would therefore be able to charge higher ad rates.

“A video with incomplete or inaccurate metadata is like a book without a cover – you don’t know what it’s about, which shelf it belongs on, or who’s most likely to enjoy it,” said Eyal Hertzog, founder and chief creative officer for Metacafe. “Simply put, we live by the mantra ‘it’s the metadata, stupid!’.” Below is a chart of Metacafe’s traffic for the past 12 months.

Wikicafe enables people to share their knowledge about and passions for particular topics by adding details about the content of a video. For example, a music buff can add information about the band featured on a video’s soundtrack. A dog lover can tag a vide

Kowabunga! Integrates 3rd Party XML Feeds into ValidClick AdExchangeToday

Kowabunga! announced that its ValidClick AdExchange, an open, quality controlled PPC marketplace, now accepts third party advertising XML feeds.

ValidClick AdExchange protects advertisers by first filtering out suspicious clicks in real time using Kowabunga’s FeedPatrol technology and then dynamically pricing advertiser bids when necessary, using the Fair Isaac Corporation Click Conversion Score. The conversion score methodology, developed by Kowabunga’s partner, Fair Isaac, leverages patented analytics technologies that adapt to each click and conversion to score publishers on their ability to convert advertisers’ leads into sales. Kowabunga! expects the integration of third party XML feeds to further accelerate the system’s growth.

“Publishers working with ValidClick AdExchange will soon see an enhanced and growing advertising inventory, and most will see their revenue per click climb simultaneously,” said Kowabunga! Chief Executive Officer Stan Antonuk. “Advertisers, on the other hand, want more performance based click volume. This arrangement can deliver significantly more traffic, and our dynamic scoring model reduces risk by catching fraudulent clicks up front and matching advertisers with the best possible partners.”

ValidClick AdExchange expects to add a number of third party networks over the remainder of the year and will be integrating the first four t

For the first time ever, grassroots bloggers will be broadcasting video, pictures and text updates straight from the floor of the Democratic National Convention using their mobile phones and Zannel, the instant media network that is used for lifecasting, micro-blogging, and as a mobile social network.

The Democratic National Convention, being held in Denver, Colorado August 25-28, has accredited a select number of state-based bloggers with floor access during the entire convention. Fourteen of these bloggers, representing every region of the United States of America, are contributing to Zannel’s PoliticsBlue community channel (www.zannel.com/politicsblue or text DEM to 58888 to view on mobile) from the convention through Election Day. Representing North, South, East, West, and even registered Democrats living abroad, these bloggers will broadcast their journeys to this historic event, their observations, on-the-fly interviews, interactions with delegates, and authentic captured moments with political figures on the national scene. By leveraging Zannel’s mobile platform, they will be able to instantly share their convention coverage with their blog’s readers, the Zannel community, and to the blogging and social networks to which Zannel syndicates content.
