[editor's note, by PoliSigh] Slept in this morning! See you later!

Today's Meditation: thanks to beliefnet
Native American Pet PrayerOh Great Spirit! I give you thanks for creating all of the peoples;
Two legged, four legged, winged and finned.
May I learn the great lessons from each of these...
From the Cat, let me learn healing, clarity, and keen vision.
From the Bird, let me learn how to let my spirit soar.
From the Fish, let me learn tenacity and to overcome obstacles.
From the Horse, let me learn strength and freedom.
And from the Dog, let me learn faithfulness, courage,
and unconditional love.
May I walk, swim and fly in harmony and balance with all of these. Aho!

Better put out some hot chocolate and see what the lolz are up to:

The horror of the Bush legacy, by the numbers
The Myth of Bush As 'The Hero of September 11"
W Paid for Girlfriend's Illegal Abortion, Poppy Covered It Up
Russell Baker's new book on the Bush family details - names and all, apparently - the time when young W had to have his career as a future president (the George W presidency has been in the pipeline for a long time) rescued from his responsibility (as he always has been..until now) for an unintended pregnancy
It was an illegal pre-Roe v Wade abortion.
- Twas Coffee Hour...
-
Welcome to Coffee Hour! The weather outside is frightful here in New England, with slushy snow/sleet/rain falling. Just the weather for steaming mugs of hot cocoa (check over on that table for a bit o'peppermint schnapps to add, if you prefer). Then pull up a seat or patch of rug in front of the fire, and chat with us a bit!
How's the first week of your New Year gone? So far so good, or were you expecting something different? I'm making good on a variety of my resolutions intentions. I'm more conscious of what I eat both in nutritional content, and variety. I'm taking my yoga class again (missed signups for the last session and had to sit out for 8 weeks), and am so glad to be doing so. I'm also heading back to the gym a few mornings a week, something I used to do after dropping my daughter at school. Last year I let a bad habit get me out of that routine, but I have no reason to continue unhealthy habits and look forward to quality time with the elliptical and weight machines instead of wasted time at home :-). My goal is to be a smaller, fitter Brillig by the time July rolls around!
So, what new routines or actions are you trying to implement this New Year? And, how can we support each other in those habits?
:: As always, this is an Open Thread, and please tell us what you're eating and drinking! ::
- Is Jim Wallis Your Granddaddy?
-
Ummm, no. This is just more of Wallis' smarmy influence chasing. The man is determined to insert himself as a player in any administration, Republican or Democrat.
But Dan? Jim Wallis doesn't even believe there should be a religious left. Moreover, the religious left, such as it is, includes more than Washington players, and it has been here for a very long time.
"Leading light of the burgeoning religious left," my arse.
