Our New Year's resolution? To get in shape. Our partners at ExerciseTV have made it easier this year with Resolution Solution, a four-week exercise program designed to tone things up. Week One focuses on the basics of strength and toning, with a series of exercises dedicated to shaping up legs, glutes, abs and shoulders.
If you want to join the program, start at any time -- and feel free to use our discussion boards for the videos as a place to share tips and ask advice from others who have resolved to shape up this year. To get started, you will want 3- to 10-pound dumbbells, a chair, an exercise mat or comfortable flooring, and supportive footwear. The exercise videos are suitable for all levels -- beginners should start slow, learn the exercises and progress over a few weeks, while advanced exercisers can add 5- to 10-pound dumbbells when appropriate, and complete additional sets of the workouts and exercises.
We asked ExerciseTV's Holly Perkins to offer a few tips to help us along the way. Holly is the first Fitness Ambassador for New Balance and has teamed up with Exercise TV to produce three new workout videos for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. She's a personal trainer and fitness expert who has worked with Adrian Grenier, Howard Stern, Natasha Richardson and a 2008 Presidential candidate (top secret, of course).

On New Year's Eve, there's one place that's like no other: New York City's Times Square. With dazzling lights and a crowd of smiling faces, it feels electric. But this year, if you can't make it to New York in time for the ball to drop Wednesday night, you can check in with Hulu. We're offering a live stream of the night's events, straight from Times Square.
We'll have the live feed of the action as the Big Apple -- and the rest of the nation -- counts down to midnight, when the New Year's Eve Ball makes its decent from the flagpole at One Times Square. Our coverage will include views of Times Square and the crystal ball, plus the ambient sounds of the party as NYC winds up to count down to 2009.
The live coverage begins on Hulu at 10 p.m. EST. So whether you're hosting your own New Year's gathering or curled up at home, grab a few streamers and head to hulu.com/spotlight to join in the revelry as Times Square takes center stage. And as we say hello to 2009, everyone here at Hulu wants to thank you for a great 2008. It's been an exciting year for us, and we're excited to see what's in store for 2009.
Happy New Year,
Rebecca
- A Q&A with James GrayDecember 24 2008

Hulu had the opportunity to speak to James Gray, the writer and director behind The Yards and We Own the Night earlier this week. His newest film, Two Lovers, comes to theaters this February and stars Joaquin Phoenix and Gwyneth Paltrow. We've posted the interview in the discussion boards for the trailer, giving you the chance to read a little more about the film, its Brighton Beach setting and what it's like to work with a talent like Phoenix. (This is reportedly Phoenix's last movie role so that he can focus on his musical career.)
You can catch the Two Lovers preview in Hulu's movie trailers section, where you're free to email it to your friends, post it to your Facebook profile, or embed it on your personal blog. To read the Q&A with Gray, just scroll down to the discussion boards for that video.
We'll continue to offer little extras like this going forward -- it's a great way to build a community around our favorite films. Enjoy the trailer, and feel free share your thoughts in the video's discussions.

As a special treat this Christmas, we've put together a collection of some Christmas-themed episodes from current shows and old favorites. It's an easy way to get in the spirit of the season, whether you take Dwight's profiteering approach (anyone need a Princess Unicorn?) or prefer to celebrate Chrismukkah-style, with eight days of presents followed by a day of many presents. Our Best of Christmas collection has those now-classic episodes, as well has a sampling from Monk, American Dad!, Married...With Children and more.
And then there's my favorite holiday of the year, courtesy of our friends down in The O.C.:
While you're watching, don't forget to check out our new embed feature, which allows you to watch each video in full screen. To do so, simply click on the "expand" box that appears to the right of the search bar when the embedded video is playing.
From all of us at Hulu, happy holidays!

Editor - One True ThingDecember 19 2008

Today's Hulu for the Holidays movie, One True Thing, is a tear-jerker. It's the story of Ellen (Renee Zellweger), a young New York City journalist whose career is on the rise. But when she returns home for a birthday party, her life changes in ways she never expected. Her mother (Meryl Streep), Kate, has just been diagnosed with cancer and needs someone to look after her. Ellen's father (William Hurt), a college prof, puts the burden of Kate's care on Ellen's shoulders.
The tone is set when Kate, dressed up as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, says "There's no place like home," and Ellen mutters -- under her breath behind mom's back, of course -- "Thank god."
What follows is the story of a young woman discovering that her homemaker mother was stronger than anyone thought, and that her father -- long idolized by Ellen -- is not the man she thought he was.
Hope you enjoy the movie,
Rebecca
