Roller coaster drama at NTNovember 19 2008

Lately, nothing has gotten me more down than the fall of my former employer, Nortel.

Almost hourly, I’m checking the stock; this blog and this blog; as well as this news feed on what’s going on there — all the while, hoping for good news.

NT was a great place to work, with great, brilliant people. I left there because another interesting opportunity came along that was more in line with my future career goals, not because of the company’s prospects. Roughly six months after leaving, I’m left wondering what’s next for NT? As someone who thrives on business-related drama, this is chock-full of excitement (and has been since the bubble burst earlier this decade).

Now, in the wake of a recent analyst note forecasting the company will fall to $0, horrible global economic malaise that’s spreading like mould on la

I’ll be backNovember 18 2008

Ill be back

I'll be back

I am not dead, I am just friggin swamped. No excuse, I know.

But, as I read somewhere recently, there is an inverse relationship between posting and having a life. Unless you’re this guy — who has a life yet continues to post on a regular basis.

Stay tuned. I’ll be back.

10:00:

Word count: 1061.

9:58

Adam: they shouldn’t have done another hour. too much bev. 4 out of 10

Shelby: 9.5 because Brenda’s teeth are scary.

Daina: you wouldve given it a 10 otherwise?

Shanna: 5. Creepy guy became better looking but the father is way too intense.

Daina: 4. Parents need to be more parental. They’re not jim and cindy by any means.

Shelby: they’re more like OC parents.

Me: 6 out of 10. Average. but, I think it’ll get better. I think the peach pit could have been such a cool throwback.

Adam: kids wouldnt hang out a diners.

Shanna: I’d hang out at a diner!

Shanna: teacher was cool. i like teacher.

9:57

Daina: is that it?

Shanna: SCENES!

Kelly’s mom is back on the show — as previewed…

9:56:

Uh oh, the rich guy vs. the other rich guy.  What will they think of next.

9:55

Daina: they need to get uglier parents; not model parents.

9:54:

Mr. Walsh would never display his nipples like that.

9:54

Punishment for kids today: no texting.

9:53:

Brenda is back on screen.

Shelby: Yay.

Shanna: Her teeth are so horrible.

9:50

“Thats what kids do here, they have plans…and go to san francisco.”

9:47

Daina: So, who’s watching next week?

Adam and Shanna: Yes.

Shelby: yes — but I want more brenda.

90210 v.2.0September 2 2008

Full disclosure time: When I was younger, I was a HUGE 90210 fan. I even had a 90210-themed birthday party, which included a night out in a limo, hilarious role-based trivia and the exchanging of an egg at a local convenience store.

However, the re-runs on Tvtropolis in recent years have underwhelmed (is that a word? ;) ). I guess it didn’t quite have the staying power I had thought it would.

Now, while I generally don’t get excited about what’s on tv nowadays — nor do I make appointment television thanks to my PVR — tonight I’ll be sitting and watching the premiere of 90210 v.2.0 with some friends. Yes, appointment television and a 90210 party — just like it used be on Wednesday nights of yester-year.

Oh, and I’ll be live blogging it here too. Why? Because I’ve never live-blogged before and I wanna give it a shot.

Nortel to Cisco: ‘Tax this’May 15 2008

A huge portion of my time at Nortel has been spent on the company’s Green story and its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts. As such, today is a pretty cool day at Nortel — as the company begins to shout from the rooftops about how its product portfolio is leaps and bounds more energy efficient than those of rival Cisco through a very strategic ad/communications campaign. Check out the ads in the Wall Street Journal and San Jose Mercury News, respectively, here and here.

And type “the Cisco Energy Tax” into your search engine and follow the links. Congrats all around to my peeps at Nortel.
