D-'s Blog

Just a bit about my every day life. A journal of sorts.

Ok, so I meant to type a blog yesterday, but I never got to it. We ended up going to the school so I could do the track, and ran into one of the families of Judianna's ballet classmate. So they played, adults talked...and you know how it goes. Before you know it, you are ready for bed! So that was where I went. But we had a good day. We went to Judianna's swimming lessons and the local news showed up to do a report on water safety, so they got lots of footage of Judianna swimming and they interviewed me. That was fun. Other than that, not much else went on yesterday. Or today for that matter. Just more lessons, and I finished a book I was reading.  The weather hasn't been great. Storming off and on, so it's a lazy day. Sometimes I need a lazy day, anyway! Well, gotta go cook dinner!

Well, I have to say that today was a pretty good day- Aside from not getting much sleep last night. I couldn't fall asleep, then when I did it was time to get up and get ready to take Judianna to her first day of lessons. Her dance class started at 9. It went pretty well...then again, I'm not able to be in the room with her. They don't want parents distracting their kids, so we wait outside the classroom for 45 minutes. I brought a Danielle Steele book to read. Then, we came home for an hour to rest, and off again to swimming lessons. She swam ok, but got in trouble a couple times for not staying by the wall where she was supposed to be. Other than that, it went well. I had a couple of moms try to make conversation with me, but Mike's antisocialness (if that is really a word...) is rubbing off on me, I think. I really don't mind chatting with them, but I'd much rather keep to myself and read my book. I don't know why. I like people, but I guess that I don't want to get too close to any of them for fear of playdate commitment! I don't like to plan ahead. Though I know soon she'll be collecting friends, and I'll be driving her to kids houses and having kids over. Guess I need to get used to it. Anyway, then we came home. After dinner we went to the school down the street and I brought our rollerskates, so we rollerskated around the track, which was a lot of fun. And the band was practicing and they were practicing dancing with flags. It was a good night. Mike is working tonight

Today was a lazy Sunday. I did one load of laundry and that's about it around the house. I made a pretty good breakfast, though. Eggs, kielbasa, cheezy hashbrowns and toast. The family was happy. Then I ran to the store with Judianna to get a Father's Day gift for Mike. She got a guitar carrying case for him and a coffee mug that says "Dad is the Boss". Only he doesn't drink coffee, so she calls it his milk cup, for when he eats his Oreos. Then, on the way home, we stopped at the school and I ran/walked the track. I was glad to get that in today because I missed it yesterday. Then I came home, checked my email, emailed my mom in law, and then Mike came and asked if I wanted to see a movie, so we watched The DaVinci Code....which wasn't nearly as good as I expected. The last half was ok, I kept nodding off in the first half. Now, I'm doing this and fixing dinner. Judianna had her left over chinese food, I'm having tomato soup and a salad, and Mike's having lasagna. Thats all thats been going on today. Boring, I know, but sometimes it's nice that way!

So far it's a pretty gloomy day here. I thought I'd walk to the park today for a picnic lunch with my daughter, and let her play for a while, check out the little zoo that they have, and let Judianna run through the big sprinkler that they have. Then I checked the weather for the day. Rain, rain, rain. Today and all week. Blah. I'm still hoping that I might get an hour or two of sunshine in there somewhere. I went to the track again yesterday. This time Mike joined me. Well, kinda. I did my normal half run, half walk while Mike and Judianna walked it. My legs don't hurt too bad today, but it's only been one day, so we'll see tomorrow. My mom called me last night to update me on my grandma's doctor visit. No g0od news there. Turns out she still has some cancer in her. We were hoping that they got it all, but they did biopsies of her lymph nodes and found that it had spread to them. So, it has probably spread elsewhere. They might put her on some kind of cancer pill. They know she doesn't want to do chemo and radiation treatments, and I can't blame her. So, they'll talk about the pill and she'll have to decide if she wants to try it, or just take it as it comes. I just hope she won't end up suffering. She has a good outlook, that she's lived to be 86, and enjoyed her life, so she's ok if it's "her time to go". It helps that she feels that way, but as I said, I really hope she won't suffer in any way. I'm still kinda trying to take it all in. We'll just have to see how it goes.

Ah, I'm back. Didn't do too much yesterday. Mowed the lawn. That's about it. My legs have been SO sore from exercising! I did the track at the school two days in a row. I ran half  and walked half, and Im paying the price. If we are supposed to be so physically fit, why does it hurt so damn much to get that way??? I have the feeling that I'm gonna go back and do it again today, though. Maybe if I just go every other day instead of 2 days in a row, it won't hurt so bad. I suppose that mowing the lawn didn't help either. Especially since I still haven't gotten the lawn mower wheel in the mail, so I am mowing with only 3 wheels... a task. I have to check my calendar, as father's day is coming up. But, I am completely broke at the moment, so I'm not sure what I'll do about it! I'll figure something out. I watched the movie Nanny McPhee yesterday. It was cute.  I found out that a local theater here is going to be playing Wizzard of  Oz next Saturday, and you can get in free if you bring a non-perrishable food item. Sounds like fun. I'd like to go see Wizard of Oz on the big screen and take Judianna. But, we have a graduation party to go to so I'll miss it. I'm hoping that they'll have a really good turn out and do it again in the near future.  I love watching movies at home and making nacho's and taco dip and sitting on the bed with my family enjoying a movie, but I'll admit that you just can't beat the popcorn at the theater.  Well, that's about all I've got to say today
