We're excited to announce a number of new features this week, including ways to retrieve friends, applications, and Pages a user has tagged in a post; to query the stream without the read_stream extended permission; and more.
Querying Tagged Items in Status Posts
Starting after the Wednesday, March 17th push, you can query the stream_tag FQL table to return associations between users or Facebook Pages and the items they tag in status posts. Every field in the table (actor_id, target_id, and post_id) is indexable, and each takes an array, so you can query the table in various ways to determine:
- All the friends, Pages, events, and other Facebook objects one or more users has tagged in posts.
- All the posts in which a user has tagged something.
- All the users who have tagged a given object in a post.
Querying the stream Table for Public Data
The stream FQL table now returns public data (viewable by everyone on Facebook) if you query it without any extended permissions. As before, if the user granted your application the read_stream extended permission, you can access additional data from the user's stream.

Talk: Designing the First Fifteen Minutes - Expanding the Preferred Developer Consultant ProgramMarch 8
-
We often hear from brands, celebrities, companies, and organizations who are looking for the best resources to start building an application on Facebook.com, optimize a Facebook Connect integration, or build a Facebook Page. To help you accelerate your efforts, we introduced the Preferred Developer Consultant program in December to connect companies and brands to the resources they need to build with Facebook products and technologies.
We are excited to see the growing ecosystem of businesses that have been created around supporting innovation on Facebook, and today we're expanding this program to recommend 35 additional developers who can help you build world-class social experiences both on Facebook and around the Web. The program now has nearly 50 consultants in 15 countries. Over half of the new Preferred Developer Consultants have international operations and have already built campaigns, community portals, and other social applications in countries like Israel, Lithuania, and Czech Republic.
- Continuing to Simplify Facebook: Removing Application NotificationsFebruary 26

When we launched Facebook Platform in 2007 there were just 40 million users on Facebook. Since then, in less than three years, more than 350 million users have joined Facebook, and more than one million developers like you have created more than 500,000 applications. With this additional scale came greater complexity. We announced last October a set of efforts to help make interactions with applications more streamlined, clear, and less spammy for users. We also launched our developer roadmap so that you would always have access to the latest information regarding upcoming changes.
We wanted to check in today to let you know how things are going, and what's to come.
Streamlining Communication Channels
As part of our efforts to improve the quality of your communications with users, we have launched features such as the Applications and Games dashboards, the ability to request user email addresses and an "Add Bookmark" button. Beginning next Monday, March 1, 2010, at 10AM Pacific time, Facebook will no longer deliver application notifications and will dis
