It all started with an innocent letter.
I just thought I would write Michael Jackson a letter and offer him some advice, what happened next is still hard for me to believe. Here is the first letter. I'll post the replies and the ongoing correspondence over the next few weeks. enjoy??
Mr. Michael Jackson

Giant Laser Eyed Robot Thing, Las Vegas, NVDear Mr. Jackson,
I am a big fan. But not really... eh.
Let me explain. I like the ABC Michael Jackson, Off The Wall Michael Jackson, and some of Thriller Michael Jackson. I am not a fan of the monkey carrying Michael Jackson. However, I have never knowingly called you "wacko-jacko".
Michael let me be frank, you need a makeover. And not some nipping, tucking, smoothing, and peeling kind of thing. I'm talking about a musical makeover. Hey let's face it, you're not a kid anymore. Am I right? You're like 50 or something. It's okay to get older. Everybody does it. Even Peter Pan got older in that Steven Spielberg version with the creepy lost boys and the precocious Julia Roberts. You don't have to dance the same as you used to. No m

Just when I was about to lose it and write a crazy flaming post about facebook and how they kicked me out, I get the following email:
Hi David,
Facebook has limits in place to prevent behavior that other users may find annoying or abusive. These limits restrict the rate at which you can use certain features on the site. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with the specific rates that have been deemed abusive.
Your account was disabled because you exceeded Facebook's limits on multiple occasions when writing notes, despite having been warned to slow down.
However, after reviewing your situation, we have reactivated your account, and you should now be able to log in. Please be aware that if your account is disabled again, we will not be able to reactivate it. Once logged in, please slow down the rate at which you write notes. We appreciate your cooperation going forward.
Thanks for your understanding,
Jackson

FacebookThis is after I sent three different emails to them regarding the issue. The first was angry but professionally concerned, the second one was sort of a WTF?!, and the third I swallowed my pride. I said that I read their TOS and understood the (terrible) infraction that I made, but it was an innocent mistake and I'll never ever do it again. Ever never.
It appears that as long as you contact them, they wait a week, let you sweat and then

Last night I got kicked off of Facebook. Apparently I violated their terms of service. All I was doing was using a feature on their site. I wanted to change my personal feed from just this blog to my soup.io feed which contains an aggregation of a variety of my content. So I changed the feed url. Previewed it, then wanted to see if I could get the links to work from a couple of the sources, so I used a different soup.io feed. That didn't work, so I went back to the original. This must have triggered some "abuse" flag and I got dumped. I like to think I got Zuckerberged.
Now I can't log in and they are being pretty non-responsive. This is all the info they provide:
"Your account has been disabled by an administrator. If you have any questions or concerns, you can visit our FAQ page here. Facebook enforces limits on the site in order to prevent certain actions that can be considered abusive. Your account has been disabled for persistent and rapid use of a certain feature. Unfortunately, for security reasons, we will not be able to further explain these limits."
I can understand having these kinds of safety measures, but I've never encountered such a thing before. I was using their tools according to how they instructed. Enter a feed URL, then preview it. I expect if you don't like the way things look in the "preview" then it would be okay to change things. That's all that I did.
I hope that they reinstate

Nice video about Fox News and how they talk out their asses for the benefit of their agenda. It's amazing to me that they get away with it. I think the main problem is that they call themselves a "news" organization. When the majority of the content is blowhard punditry then it's not news. Same goes for CNN and even MSNBC. They have too much airtime and nothing really substantial to talk about. But clearly Fox is the worst offender.
