- Find Out With Which Famous Author Your Writing MatchesJuly 19
-
You have your own style of writing? I don't think so. Everyone somehow matches to someone's skills. Same for writing. IWL aka I Write Like is an amazing online tool which finds out whom do you write like.
This tool matches keywords, punctuations, idioms used in your sentences with the pieces written by famous authors. With the most matches, it brings the results.

To use it, you just need to paste your written snippet into the big text entry box there. Bam! And you'll see to which author your writing skills match. The tool also provides HTML code for a badge, which you can show off on your webpage or something.
Try it out, and share with us like which author you write. PS. I write like Cory Doctorow.

- Fring Updates Its Smartphone AppJuly 10

There is a good chance that if you own an older generation iPhone, you took advantage of Fring’s services. In case you are unfamiliar with it, Fring is a very popular VoIP client that provides its services for free. The Fring application for older phones lets users conduct 1-way video calls: a person uses his camera to show himself while the person on the other end watches on his phone’s screen.
But with iPhone now equipped with a brilliant dual camera feature, Fring quickly worked on the task of making use of the front camera. The result is Fring’s latest app that supports 2-way video chat not only on iPhone 4 but also on Android and Nokia phones.

Fring’s update to its video, voice, and messaging application will be greatly welcomed by smartphone owners. Since the app supports multiple phones, people will be able to have 2-way video conferences between an iPhone 4 and Nokia, Nokia and Android, and iPhone 4 and Android. In this regard, Fring is clearly superior to iPhone 4’s native FaceTime which facilitates video calls from one iPhone 4 to another iPhone 4 only.
Another way Fring’s video calling is better is that it can be executed over 3G – Wi-Fi is not the only requirement. But FaceTime only works over Wi-Fi.
From the looks of it, Fring has just given iPhone 4 owners 2 big re
- GrandMother's Guide To Google Video Chat By GoogleJuly 2

Google’s Video Chat feature allows you to easily hold a video conversation with your Gmail, iGoogle, and Orkut contacts. All you need is a webcam, speakers / headphones, and a microphone attached to your computer. Then you get the video and chat plugin from here. Next, you login to Gmail, iGoogle, or Orkut. If there is a camera icon next to a online contact in your contacts list, you can start having a video conversation with them. Even if they do not have a webcam or microphone, you can still have a one way video conversation and they can type back their responses.
Jason Toff is a person in the Google Video Chat team. He was recently inspired to create a manual that was easy to follow for senior citizens. Jason thought that Google Video Chat should be easy enough for our grandmothers to setup. Consequently he created a video manual of how to setup video chat as well as a printable manual.

The video manual can be seen on YouTube by clicking here and the printable manual comes in the form of a PDF file available here.
- Sony Recalling Over 500,000 VIAO LaptopsJune 30

You might have heard of iPhone 4 users facing great problems regarding their phone’s antenna. Apparently many users are unable to get proper phone reception on their iPhone 4. Consequently a class action lawsuit has been filed against Apple. But Apple sticks with the claim that the fault is not a design flaw and refuses to accept any responsibility.
But not all technology companies are following Apple’s footsteps. There are companies out there that try to facilitate their customers as soon as a product fault is detected. Take Sony for instance.
As reported in the Wall Street Journal, Sony detected an overheating flaw in one their laptop series. This series includes comprises of F and C Vaio laptops. Many of these laptops have already been sold; precisely speaking, 259,000 laptops in the U.S., 103,000 in Europe, 120,000 in Asia, and 52,000 in Japan.
But Sony is not going to sit around and do nothing about the issue. They have recalled all these laptops because the overheating issue can be quite serious. The overheating can distort the shape of the laptop and can get to a level where users’ skin is burned (although no such case has been reported yet).

Sony’s customers who are affected by the recall can fix the issue themselves by downloading a patch from Sony’s website. Alternatively they can call Sony
- Use Same Keyboard/Mouse On As Many Computers As You LikeJune 29
-
If you are operating multiple computers at your home or office, then you might be shifting a lot from one keyboard-mouse set to another. Since each computer has separate keyboard-mouse sets hooked to it, shifting is a necessity. However through the usage of a brilliant tool name Synergy Plus, you can use the same keyboard-mouse set on as many computers as you like.

If you have multiple computers running connected via LAN, then Synergy Plus lets you control them all using a single keyboard-mouse set. IT professionals, in particular, will find this to be very helpful as it allows them to shift from one computer to another with ease.
Synergy Plus has different versions for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. The connected computers need not run the same operating system. All they need to have is the corresponding Synergy Plus installed. If you are a Windows user, you will download the setup file sized at roughly 7MB. After installing the program, you need to specify whether or not the computer you are using will be the server i.e. the computer with the keyboard-mouse attached.
You shift your mouse pointer from one screen to another by placing it one side of the monitor for a while. A delay can be set for the shifting to avoid accidental shifting. This delay duration can be specified by the user
