The (Really HUGE) Kimel BouncerYesterday

OK, we have done bouncers and diffusers before. We had a nice paper/foamy version of the LumiQuest and a nice paper version of the Stofen. So what's the big deal about this one? 

Firstly, it comes to you from  Martin Kimeldorf, the guy who converted his lightstand to backdrop mount.

Secondly it is the HUGEST bouncer I've ever seen. Excluding the ceiling bounce, of course.

The Strobist Corner - Extending Your TTL Flash CordJanuary 6

When I first got this hack in the mail I immediately thought, hey this looks like something Strobist would do. After all he did it with a PC-Sync cord. This great mod from Mario Giambanco takes it one step further. Instead of using a PC-Sync and a home power cable, Mario used a TTL cable with a network cable. Simple? Kinda. Genius? Surly.

One of the things I really like about it is the extended rage you get, up to 50 feet. Maybe more. Radio Poppers, right behind you :)

The First Pool of 2009January 1

This is the first fun at the pool of 2009 and I feel blessed with the great talent at the DIYP Flickr group. One of the things that makes me particularly happy is the great use you are doing with the flickr DIYP discussion group. A few great questions were asked about building a softbox, creating the shaped bokeh thing and more. Great answers are given by the readers, and it is a great opportunity to let everyone know about this resource.

This is also a great opportunity to mention Something Newer, our latest photography project. Submit an image with the friends theme to DIYP Flickr pool and tag it with somethingnew to get a chance to win a two-week rental of a camera/lens or both.
