This was the final assignment for my Foundations of Education course
Education was not a passion for me
Education was a place to be
Education was a way to see
Myself as a mover
Myself as a do-er
A doer of skirts
A doer of skill
A doer of breakfast
A doer of bills
Set myself at the stern
And create business where children learn
Where they enter with a promise and a lick
Stand tall and carry big stick
You are not one
You are not only
You will be grand
But only solely
Education, you do not choose
Teacher genius, you do not make
Nurture patience all to use
Zeal and might, none to break
You lean on you
You know best
Firmly rooted in life
And its success
But it’s not you
Who holds the gem
It’s those you face:
It’s them

A gnawing sorrow
A grieving place
A want to know
At least make space
Their greatest loads
Are earnest holes,
So when they reach for matter
That drains like a sieve
It leaves remnants who
Precious little gives
Two forces: one is essential
The other not second
I am not job
I am not parent
I am not redeemer
I am only source
Giving tenderness
Dispensing reality
Imparting clues
And spilling quality

I need to purchase some ad space on a billboard over the NJ turnpike and list the utterly shocking behaviors men allow themselves to get away with that I have either experienced myself or heard about from close friends.
Maybe when I get my next Americorps check I can look into that. For now, my words will have to be shouted from the rooftops of bloggerville.
He did wha??
True stories from the underbelly
1. He dated her for 6 months, said he was having doubts and asked her if they could get together to talk it over. He never called.
2. He "accidentally" had unprotected sex with the girl he's been seeing for 3 weeks after she said no. He wrote a really long apology email, and then ended the relationship by saying he was really just too busy for a girlfriend.
3. He told her he wanted to marry her but couldn't say he loved her yet. He stopped calling.
4. They were dating for a few months. He went to strip club and tried to hook up with a stripper. He got kicked out of the club and she heard

You say you want your freedom
What else could it be
You just want to sleep late
And I want you to think of me.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
I want you by my side.
My life is like a ferris wheel and buddy,
You have missed the ride.
How could it be
That you're not with me
I've got all my ducks in line.
Progress is like sipping wine.
If you weren't you
If I didn't know
What it was like with her
And why she had to go.
I would not be me.
We would not be here
It would all be bars and friends And sometimes you would call me, Dear
How could it be
That you're not with me
I always played along
I even sang your songs
I watered patience and I nurtured time
I made myself the manager
Of your relationship assembly line.
I waited for you always
Every single minute
I prayed that you would make my day
But you never did it
How could it be
That you're not with me
You're not quite a man
And Wendy can't live in Neverland
How could it be
That you're not with me
From the wrong time and place
You reached out and touched my face
How could it be
That you're not with me
We had so much left to do
I'm so not done with you
I cannot change you
Even in fantasy
So you'll make your music
Until it is reality
