Lilypie Expecting a baby Ticker

Baby RegistryYesterday
We've begun our registry! On the right hand side I've added a new box that will list where we are registering.

Right now it's just with Abby's Lane. As I mentioned in a previous post, Abby's Lane offers a myriad of cloth diapers and all the accessories that come with them!

Something Babies R Us can't offer! Can you believe that Babies has opted NOT to provide something to mother's-to-be? Could it perhaps be a threat on their livelihood from Huggies and other diaper people to NOT encourage foolish consumers to buy something reusable, but rather continue to push the eco-harming disposables on the poor time-crunched sleep-deprived new parents?

I digress...

I'm very excited about the whole cloth diapering process and am happy to have found a place that offers a variety of styles, lots of fun colors and patterns (not just baby pink, baby blue , and baby patterns!!), and an owner who lives mere miles from me and is a wealth of information!

I haven't bugged her yet, but I have a feeling I'll be adding her number to my cell phone before Memorial Day.

Next Sat. is the BIG day (okay, one of many BIG days that we have lined up for the next few months). This BIG day will involve the Babies registry "da-da-da-dum". Although I think Shawn will fare better than I will (I HATE SHOPPING) I will be rewarding him (and me!) with lunch at IHOP after said registering.

I took a dry-run through the store on Friday (yes, Bla

Thanksgiving EveNovember 26
There are only a few more hours until I can go home...and hopefully fewer than I'm thinking there will be...and I thought this would be a good time to jot down a few things for which I am thankful.

First and foremost...I am thankful for that little worm squiggling around in my belly. Although I still think it's a little creepy, I can understand what people mean when they say I will miss it when it's over.

I am thankful for an easy as pie pregnancy free from complications, sickness, and most symptoms.

I am thankful for Shawn...who listens and cares and comforts. He's a good man.

I am thankful for all the people in our life! The grandparents-, aunt-, and uncles-to-be, all the fun things they will be able to show our little Popsie, and who all live in very unique places! Who will also hopefully return Popsie without too many scars...or at least in places that are easily hidden.

And of course, I'm thankful for all the honorary aunts and uncles that Popsie will have...and cousins. There are quite a few newborns and soon-to-be-borns who I imagine will be great playmates to our little Popsie.

Thank you! To everyone who has brought something into our life and made it better. Cause you all have!

Have a wonderfully stuffed Thanksgiving!!

(I would be remiss if I didn't give thanks for my wonderful collection of fuzzy creatures at home...who also bring s

Good Grief!November 20
I have been blissfully spared from a majority of pregnancy symptoms; including morning sickness and just about anything else that occurs in the first trimester, so far I have escaped heartburn, and to be honest, right now my only "symptom" is a bigger belly and that worm wiggling around in it.

Until this morning.

When the alarm went off and I silently prayed it was really Sat. and Shawn had accidentally set the alarm. I stretched a little to get off the bed and then it happened.

A charlie horse.

Holy mother of all things great and small!

My right calf immediately became rock solid and more painful then after running all 26.2 miles of any of the marathons I've run! It hurt more than the blister UNDER my big toe nail as a result of running that distance.

And now...almost 10 hours later, my calf is sore, sore, sore. I feel as though I've walked to the top of the Washington Monument using my right leg only.

When I got to work, I immediately set about researching this silly side effect of worms in the belly. Remedies include bananas, milk, stretching, and massages.

I'm going to skip them all and head straight for the massages!! Shawn...get ready!!! :)

Remember the movie Aliens?November 18
We took Popsie down to Florida this weekend. I suppose it was actually a rather cruel thing to do since Popsie isn't nearly tall enough to ride any roller coasters, eyes aren't developed enough to see the beach, and ears aren't well-formed enough to have any idea who is speaking or what they are saying.

But we had fun!! It was nice to get away and enjoy the beach, the warm sun, and see my family.

This will be the last time we go anywhere until...I have no idea until when. Until Popsie is with us and we're coordinated and brave enough to pack up all his/her belongings and go somewhere!! (Maybe when Popsie is five??)

In addition to being a night-owl, I've decided Popsie is a gymnast. Has to be. This little fetus has been practicing on the un-even bars in utero for days now. Most of the morning and afternoon all is quiet with the exception of a few squiggles and squirms here and there.

Then evening comes, the sun sets, and I settle down for an evening of prime-time TV. That's when Popsie decides to straighten his/her costume, stretch a little and practice the floor routine.

Since I spent the majority of last night staring at my belly, I saw flutters, kicks, and bows happening in my belly. Although Bennie had his head resting on my belly, he didn't seem to notice.

I have to make a confession here...one that probably hasn't been uttered by a pregnant woman since we started doing this. I'm not 100% sure I like the gy

My Magic TrickNovember 11
I've learned a new trick. Get ready for some excitement...

I can place a TV remote control on my belly, while laying on my back, and make it jump and wiggle without moving myself at all!

Impressive no? Okay, it's not so much me as Popsie in there doing the little Popsie dance.

But it was lots of fun watching it last night...even Shawn saw it from across the room!!

Popsie seems to enjoy dancing in the evening and anytime I wake up during the night. During the day on the other hand, all seems to be quiet in utero.

I have a little request of Popsie. I know that s/he is still busy developing and needs to work on lungs and things with some level of importance, but while in there, I would appreciate s/he learn the difference between NIGHT AND DAY!! Like, say, maybe when mommy is quiet and not moving, it's because she's asleep and Popsie should follow-suit and not practice the latest Dance, Dance Revolution moves.

S/he is going to be a night owl...I'm convinced. I suppose that'll work though, cause Shawn's more of a night owl than I am!! He'll just have to take a break from whatever video game he's playing at midnight to quiet a screaming child. (Until Popsie can manage the controller, then he'll have someone to play with.)
