To round things up, I'm finally posting the shots of Photo Safari No. 5. In September we took the train to Potsdam, just outside of Berlin.
First we took a quick detour through the Dutch Quarter with its neat little brick houses.

In one of my last entries I promised to post some more pictures of the photo safaris. So here we go!

Photo Safari No. 4 took us to the zoo. It was a very hot day in July and some animals were as exhausted by the heat as we were after a while. It was still a wonderful opportunity to take some "wildlife" shots and I enjoyed capturing the various zoo inhabitants.

One thing I love about the Christmas season is that I get to bake more than I usually do. I enjoy trying out new recipes. This year I made orange stars, cookies with walnut & chocolate filling (in the back, to the left), crunchy cookies with spices (in the back, to the right) and - an all-time favorite of mine - cranberry ginger macaroons.
I wish I could invite you all over to share some tea and cookies.

For me Advent 1st is the official start of the holiday season. That's when I start to decorate my apartment and begin baking Christmas cookies. When I was a child, lighting that first candle on the advent wreath was always a big deal because that meant it was only four weeks to Christmas. In a way this still marks the beginning of Christmas for me. It's all about awaiting and building up anticipation for the big finale. This is why I don't like buying holiday stuff in October. Everything has its own time and I like that.
