- The Mysterious Case of 7AAM ARIVU (THE SEVENTH SENSE)Yesterday

Google is a marvelous thing. Earlier today I was scanning my facebook news feed and came across photos from a new Johnny Tri Nguyen film shoot. I got excited, I gushed about Nguyen in my review of Bay Rong, and I wanted to know what it was all about. The title of the photo album was "7th Sense". I tried looking it up, Johnny Tri Nguyen + Seventh Sense came up empty. Okay, try again. I went to the only English language Vietnamese news site I could find, nothing. Okay, the album said the pictures were from Chennai. Found the Chennai local paper online, nothing. I gave up. I said, "screw it", and went looking for news about Kamal Hassan, just because he is a badass.
Did you know Kamal Hassan sponsors an eye donation program? True story.
Anyhow, a couple of links down the page, there is an article about whose headline reads: - John Carpenter Talks THE WARD, THE THING And Canadian Recreation ...Yesterday

In just a week's time legendary director John Carpenter will be returning to the big screen for the first time in nearly a decade when his new film, The Ward, screens as part of the Midnight Madness program at the Toronto International Film Festival. I had the chance to have a brief conversation with Carpenter today in which he addresses his latest work, an old classic and Canada's recreational options.
TB: So, thank you for taking the time.
JC: No, thank you. Where are you located?
TB: I'm in Toronto, actually, where we are looking forward to welcoming you soon. And I hope the city is good to you.
JC: Well, thank you. I'm hoping I can come. I have one thing that may keep me from being there, which is jury duty, but if I don't get called I will be there.
TB: I suppose the place to start, the question that a l - COLD FISH Trailer Debut!Yesterday

The cult of director Sion Sono grew exponentially with the arrival of last year's stunning four hour opus Love Exposure and it looks poised to take another big leap forward with the arrival of Cold Fish. Due to screen in both the Venice and Toronto festivals, the small handful that have already seen Sono's serial killer thriller are already proclaiming it his best yet and Twitch is proud to debut both the official trailer and a handful of new stills. But first, the official synopsis:Shamoto runs a small tropical fish shop and leads a boring, but stable life. His second wife, Taeko, does not get along with his daughter, Mitsuko, and this worries him. He also feels somehow unfulfilled and dissatisfied with what his life has become.
One day Mitsuko is caught shoplifting at a department store. There
- Harvey Keitel To Take Over THE OFFICE?Yesterday
-
Yes, it's total speculation and wishful thinking but it's speculation and wishful thinking that comes from Paul Lieberstein, executive producer of The Office and, therefore, a man in a position to make it happen.
With Steve Carell about to exit the hit show, and the show continuing without him, the big question is what sort of boss is going to replace Michael Scott. And if Lieberstein has his way it will be Harvey Keitel.
Lieberstein told EOnline that he thinks Keitel is the only one who can do the role justice and, while he hasn't made a formal offer yet, he has already mapped out a complete backstory for the character.
As long as we don't see his unit I'm all for this. - Venice 2010: Fresh Images From Julie Taymor's THE TEMPESTYesterday
-
Having been fortunate enough to grow up within striking distance of one of the great Shakespeare festivals in the world and to have spent my entire school career with teachers smart enough to take me there every year, I have never been one of those who believed that the works of William Shakespeare were in any way boring or dull. No, in the right hands this stuff remains every bit as potent as the day it was written and Julie Taymor's are definitely the right hands, which makes it very odd that we've neglected to comment on her upcoming screen adaptation of The Tempest until now.
One of the world's foremost visual stylists, Taymor is so good that she made the stage musical version of The Lion King not just tolerable, but actually enjoyable - yes, I saw it - and with material as rich and complex as Shakespeare to match her visual creativity she is an outrigh
