- Cleveland Rocks! Party on the Floor 2008Yesterday
-
Last Friday, Nov. 14th, Phi Tau had its 4th annual Party on the Floor. It was decided to adopt a theme of Cleveland Rocks this year. In a departure from previous years, the main common area was turned into a dance floor. Drinks and chips were served between suites 602 and 603. Suite 602 was a Video suite, showing such Cleveland classics as Major League. Suite 603 was the Video Game Suite, this year decorated as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and adorned with Rock Band insanity. Suite 601 was a "Chill Suite", full of party games and good company. Suite 604 was dubbed the Michigan Suite, and obviously no one wanted to go in there. A good time was had by all, and the turnout was huge. Everyone in Clarke Tower and Cutler were invited, in addition to a massive list of invitees supplied by the brothers. Each hour, the party rocked out to the Cleveland Shuffle, Hang on Sloop, and Cleveland Rocks.
- Track MeetNovember 17
-
As per tradition, Phi Tau blew away the competition at this years intramural track meet. With only 7 participating runners, we nonetheless persevered through multiple events each, with brothers placing in each event. By the end of the night, we had more than double the score of any other team. Great job guys!
- Drag BallNovember 17
-
Always seeking to rise above the competition and set ourselves apart from other chapters, this Saturday the brothers of Phi Kappa Tau, Alpha Delta chapter did just that. With four participants, Phi Tau gained half of the proceeds of this years annual drag ball as the largest participating group, an amount of approximately $500, to be donated to Boggy Creek. In addition to our group accomplishment, three of the four brothers achieved personal success. Jared Gregory won the competition outright for his second time, clinching the win with a wonderfully painful-appearing split. In second place was David Karnack, who put his acting skills to use as the seductive Lola. In third place was bell-adorned Matt Collins, who performed a number from the musical "Hairspray". The fourth participant, Brian Nelson, cut a stunning figure as a bride, with a real wedding dress!
- Alpha Delta Brothers Build Bonds with Other ChaptersNovember 7
-
The brothers of the Alpha Delta chapter have reached out and made connections with two other chapters of Phi Kappa Tau over the past few weeks.
During Case Western Reserve’s fall break Michael Kowalski, Joseph Dickman, David Karnick, and John Zamojski went to Cornell University in Ithaca, NY to visit Tommy Cusick who was initiated into the Alpha Delta chapter this past April before transferring to Cornell. They were graciously hosted by the brothers of the Alpha Tau chapter from Saturday, October 18 through Tuesday, October 21.While there Joseph Dickman and John Zamojski attended their chapter meeting, and David Karnick and Michael Kowalski attended their executive council meeting. All of the Alpha Delta brothers enjoyed their experience at Cornell and with the Alpha Tau brothers and were greatly appreciative of the hospitality of the Alpha Tau brothers.
- IM Soccer Playoffs End with Loss to Sigma ChiNovember 2
-
After easily winning their first IM soccer playoff game 4-1 verse Sigma Nu, the Phi Tau team fails to advance to the third round of playoffs. The Sigma Chi game involved lots of missed opportunities and moments of greatness matched equally by moments of confusion. Eric Webb was able to capitalize on a mistake by the Sigma Chi goalie and bury the ball in the net after a very poor goal kick from Sigma Chi. Within minutes Sigma Chi was amazingly able to sink a shot past goalie Tim Sutcliffe (who played a solid game) after a fluke play in the box. Both goals were scored in the second half and then no other opportunities led to goals, leaving the final score 1-1. The game went into a sudden death shootout. Sigma Chi went first and sunk a shot after faking out the Phi Tau goalie. Phi Tau went second and Mike Druschel's shot was blocked by a textbook save from the Sigma Chi goalie (who only played goalie for the shootout). It was a heart breaker, but the brothers lost to a good opponent. Good luck Sigma Chi!
