- Watch Your Time While HuntingYesterday
-
Hunting is a waiting game. You sit and wait, hoping your game comes close enough for the shot. Something hunters overlook is the time AFTER the shot. Sometimes game does not drop immediately. Tracking is involved and if the tracking is at night tracking is going to take longer especially if your shot missed or just grazed the vitals. There may only be a spot of blood here and there. Hunters need to make sure that if they take that shot they have enough time to track down that animal whether it’s 10 minutes or several hours. Don’t take that shot knowing in ten minutes you have to leave the woods and come back later. Another hunter might see the wounded animal and fire on it, keeping it as theirs or the wild animals could get it or even worse the wounded animal could wander out onto the road. As you plan your next hunt, think about timing. Try not to stay in the woods until you have to leave. Be responsible and be safe while hunting.
- Camping With KidsNovember 6
-
Most kids love camping. They get to be outdoors and run around. We go camping alot and I thought I would share some tips for camping with kid(s).
- If just one kid is coming see if their friend wants to come. Two kids are better than one and they will have someone to play with.
- They may have their own tent but chances are they will end up in your tent be sure to leave room for your midnight visitors.
- In preparation of the above happening show the kids where their area in your tent is.
- Have them bring their own flashlight, or what my son loves, his headlight to go hands free.
- If your child has a favorite toy or stuffed animal let them bring it, for bedtime only. Explain to them that you do not want the toy outside and getting dirty.
- Bring your child’s pillow. The ground is going to be hard and it will be comforting for them to have the pillow they are used to sleeping on at home.
- Bring outdoor activities such as a Frisbee, football, baseball, or any other activity that the whole family can take part in.
Another “rule” we have is no electronics. Leave the Game Boys and PSPs at home. Camping is a time to enjoy the outdoors!
I’ll keep the post to these tips for now. I’m also going to be posting about camping and cooking with kids. Suggestions as to what to bring for food to make your camping trip stress free. Oh, and do not forget about the
- Solar Flashlight With Battery BackupOctober 30
-

This is a great find! It’s a solar powered flashlight WITH a battery power backup called the Hybrid Solar Flashlight. It is light weight (4.3 ounces) and charges quickly in the sunlight. The packaging says it will hold a charge for over three years. I have not had my light that long
The light is 40 lumens. I’m not up on all of the lumens but I can say it is bright! To charge my flashlight I just let it sit in the sun all day. It did come fully charged and ready to go. If the solar battery dies or goes low there is also a lithium backup battery in the unit. To use the backup battery simply press the power button two times. Press it one time to use the solar powered battery. When the unit is charging a red LED lights up on the unit to let you know there us sufficient light available. As you can see from the pictures below the flashlight is barely over seven inches in length and also floats. No more lost flashlights when you’re out around the water at night. The one drawback I would like to see with this light is a ca
