-
I wanted to take a moment to share our latest press announcement with you guys. The entire Woopra team has been hard at work building this exciting new feature for months. Finally, all that hard work has paid off and as we ready the next release of Woopra we wanted to give you a sneak peak at things to come.
Woopra to Launch World’s First Webcam Spy Feature for Web Sites
Eindhoven, Netherlands
Woopra, the world’s fastest growing Web Analytics provider, today announced that the next version of its wildly popular real-time Website monitoring application will allow users to remotely activate and view Website visitor’s built-in Webcams.
The company’s chief scientist, Dr. Lirpa Sloof, said, “Woopra already provides the most robust, feature rich and easy to use Web analytics available. Today we extend our market lead by integrating our latest patent-pending technology to give Webmasters more information about their visitors than ever before.”
Combined with Woopra’s unique abilities to display individual Web site visitors in real time and track them by name, this new technology levels the playing field by enabling companies and individuals alike to gain unprecedented visibility into user demographics and preferences.
According to John P., iFusion Labs CEO, “Governments have been using this technology for over a decade. What we’ve done is simply made it available to the general public.”

In fact, we’re planning on doing a follow up post which includes links to the overviews that you all create about the new release, so if you do one (especially a video walk through) drop a comment below and we’ll include it in the next blog post.
If you are one of the brave ones who are willing to download and give this version a try, read on and you’ll find the download links at the bottom of this post. Some users will need to manually uninstall the old version and then install the new one… but we think you’ll agree, it’s worth it!

- Is Google Analytics Slow or Not?February 4 2009
-
In Is Google Analytics Slooowing Down Your Blog? by Easton Ellsworth on the Blog Herald, he asks a very important question:
Do you think Google Analytics is worth the trouble? Why or why not?
The first question we usually get when talking about Woopra is “will it slow down my site.”
Personally, I find this fascinating, as people seem to have no fear of adding WordPress Plugins, Google Gadgets, and JavaScript, AJAX, and all kinds of bells and whistles to their site, but add a statistics package and instantly they ask about load times and impacts on the user experience. Clearly, there is some experiential history here worth exploring.
A quick search for reports on Google Analytics load times across the web and found a long history of people blaming the statistics program for dragging down their site loading times, with a lot of articles disputing those blames.
Many claim the Google Analytics slow down is a myth.
- Woopra: State of the Union for January 2009January 24 2009

Greetings fellow Wooprites! It’s been too long since my last State of the Union, and for that I apologize. Luckily for me, plenty of you are not shy about prodding for information and updates, and since we aims to please… here come a bunch of them!
Infrastructure
Over the last 90 days Woopra has evolved significantly, though it’s done so in ways not yet visible. You see, all of the heavy lifting is done on the back end to keep everything running smoothly and to add new features. Those of us who actually use the service really only interact with it primarily through the Woopra Client interface, or through the WordPress plugin which embeds stats in our blog.
Let me spend a moment talking about the changes to the back end, which we as users rarely think about:
- As Woopra expands across the Web onto more and more sites, we keep track of every single page view on every single site. And for every visit there are around 20 pieces of information Woopra collects. Woopra is seeing more than 50 million page views a day across more than 50,000 sites, so that means we’re collecting 1,000,000,000 pieces of raw statistical data each day… and growing.
- In addition to collecting the data, every time one of us opens our Woopra client we are pulling down streams of that information from the statistics Engines (thats what we call the
