Businesses finally moving to Vista?January 16

It’s been a while, but it seems that maybe, just maybe, business are starting to slowly move to Vista.

While it has been slow going, I was certain that things would trend this way simply because Microsoft products remain the officeplace standard.

We’d be curious to hear from anyone who is currently testing or implementing Vista in their place of work! Has it been a negative or positive experience?

Tip: Finding those missing Control Panel itemsNovember 15 2007

Some of you may have noticed (and I’m assuming that this is a 64-bit Vista thing) that a number of Control Panel icons are missing. Most notable is the Mail icon, which is used to create profiles, especially if you’re using Microsoft Outlook.

Well, they’re there, you just have to work to find them.

1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Switch to Classic View.
3. Click View 32-bit Control Panel items.

This has: *Java *Mail *ODBC *Text to Speech



OS X Tiger vs. Vista vs. Ubuntu SecurityNovember 14 2007

Rich recently posted a 15-point comparison of the three operating systems on his blog.

Congrats on a well-written article even if I have some minor disagreements. For example, I find IE7 to be far superior to Firefox in terms of ease-of-use. I’d also agree with a commenter who posits that IE7 in secure mode is safe as houses when run with UAC. It may be annoying as hell, but it’s safe.

I’d also disagree that Mac’s onboard malware protection is any better than Windows Defender. Defender also has added value in that you can work with startup programs and elect to enable or disable specific elements.

I’m looking for a wireless-N adapter that is proven to work with Windows Vista x64. Has anyone managed to find one?

Online research suggests that D-link with an Atheros driver may do the trick, but I’d like to see concrete confirmation before shelling out the cash!
