NEW SITE LINK:
www.studenttabletpc.comI think *cross fingers* that I have the new site constructed enough to make it the active site. There are still many things I want/need to do (such as moving some of the side bar stuff over and some images), but it's at a point I don't think we're losing anything major by switching.
Additionally, I haven't worked out the multiple author posting, so all posts made by Trevor will be posted through me with his name in the post.
Please submit all comments and trackbacks to the new site. I can transfer them pretty easily, but it saves me some effort if we can just keep from posting anything here.
This is really exciting! The freedom we have now to customize the site to our needs is enormous and I think the semi-final product (these things never stop changing) will be leaps and bounds ahead of where we are now!
As always, comments, suggestions, and questions about the new site are welcomed and encouraged. I'll make a post on www.studenttabletpc.com specifically for you to vent your reactions and ideas.
Thanks!

We've grown kinda big here at The Student Tablet PC. Over 200 articles and over 750 comments, with most of those articles and comments swamped and hidden in a mass of poor organization. I know it, because sometime I have trouble finding things that I know are there.
The original intent of The Student Tablet PC was to be a website, but we went with a blog format because it was easy to set up, easy to slowly add on to, and easy to keep up with what was updated. Since then, we've turned into a mix of news updates, how-to articles, and reviews, and we need a site that gives us more freedom to do what we want with our information we offer. Long story short, we're moving up to Movable Type.
We already have a domain name and host we've been using for our forums, so it's a fairly easy switch. For those looking for a host, iPowerWeb offers a lot for a great price in a professional manner. With any switch, however, there may be some downtime and weird stuff going on. Right now www.studenttabletpc.com goes to the new blog, so just use http://studenttabletpc.blogs.com (I think most links to us use this link so the effects should be minimal).
And don't worry, everything here will be transferred and we'll try to keep any links from being busted.
Thanks for your patience ^_^.
- Acrobat CommentingOctober 29 2005

I was speaking with Eric Mack and he mentioned his search for a program which kept track of what you highlighted. It didn't dawn on me until then that Acrobat may be an answer (though not ideal).
If you've used Adobe Acrobat 7.0 before, you likely know that you can mark-up your PDF files by highlighting text, underlining text, and adding comments. By selecting a commenting option and using the comment list/summary, you can give yourself a list of every word you mark up.
More details after the jump.
First, to get the comment text to show up on the list, you need to go into the Comment Preferences.

Select the box "Copy selected text into Highlight, Cross-Out, and Underline comment pop-ups." Now, when you Highlight something and mouse over it, you should see the text you highlighted in the pop-up.

After you make your comments and you're ready to see everything you did, you have some options.
1. Comment List: showing the comment list, well, lists the comments you made. This is where checking that box in the preferences pays off because every highlight, cross out, note and underline you did is recor
- Forum Mod: Image UploadOctober 29 2005
-
I've been playing with mods on our forum and I actually got a useful one working! Anyone registered can now upload images to any post, and up to 20 at a time. This should be useful sharing images of tablets, notes, set-ups, accessories, etc.
One other small mod is you can now select from a pre-loaded gallery of avatars (the little pictures under your screenname), including a bunch of tablets ^_^.
Enjoy!
