Revision 94 in GoodFather: Major MilestoneNovember 29

An unplanned milestone hit me today: An input file was sucessfuly processed by the MapReduce script built on IronPython and the output produced was read into R without a glitch. Congratulate me!

Thanks to all the people who made his possible: Sudar, Rob La Gesse, Louis Gray, Dad, Aswin, Kaushik and innumerable other people :)

And btw, here is the list of languages currently being used by GoodFather:

  1. C#
  2. VB
  3. Python (Both IronPython and CPython)
  4. Ruby (Broken Ruby. Due to Aswin’s curse, Ruby doesn’t work on my system. On any platform, any version!)
  5. MSBuild (Yes, I consider it seperate)
  6. R Language

And the Python and Ruby parts were coded with Vim, which feels pretty good to use :)

Now, if only I could get around to documentation work…. ;)

Singing in the RainNovember 21

Today, as I got off the college bus, it rained.

But this time, I didn’t search for shelter. I didn’t try get home as fast as possible. I didn’t grab a useless textbook (like there are any other kind of textbooks) and shield my head.

I sang. Soft enough so that only I could hear. And walked home slowly in the rain.

It lasted maybe 4 minutes, but felt like a long time. Maybe because of the song I chose. Maybe because how I was feeling today. Or maybe just because I had never really done it before.

But, it is wonderful. You should try it sometime.

It has been true in all my school life, and increasingly, my college life too. Guess it’s time I break it.

Should I post this?November 6

Nope.

Maybe.

But then again, nope.

College is fun, but it sure as hell ain’t what I want to be doing :(
