Breaking the silence with a rocking conference and other stuffNovember 3

A small update of recent events….

MapTheGap won third price in the Vodafone mobile click contest, together with Laura, we won the pvodafone logorice for ‘most promising start-up’. The price came with 10.000 euro - unfortunately for us - 29% of the price money is already gone to the tax man. We have been talking to a lot of developers and we are working on an extensive document where our idea is explained more thoroughly. Another thing is that we might have a place in the center of Amsterdam (!) where we can work, make music and invite interesting people.

BLOG08 logoThe last few months have been rocking. Rocking - because together with Ernst-Jan Pfauth, I organized a conference about blogging. For a report on what a was going on, make sure you cehck out the BLOG08 website. The day has been a succes, Pakhuis de Zwijger was filled with bloggers from all around Europe and we got good reviews. If bloggers are the rockstars of the web, this was there party. A big thanks for the band that was playing funky tunes all day. Also, Boris got his first gig ever with the houseband,

Koffie oorlogMarch 3

(more…)

Will it blend?March 3

The guys from willitblend.com are a great inspiration for the next generation of blender people. Today I bought my own personal blender. But because I do not have an iPhone (you might think I wouldn’t anyway but you don’t know okay!?) I couldn’t try to blend it like the will-it-blend-guys. So I used raspberrys, a banana and some apple juice instead… guess what? it-does-blend.

New things!March 1

This year it took one day longer before March started, but it was worth waiting by the looks of it. Spotlighteffect (the blog where I am editor) made it through the final round for the Dutch Weblog Contest. I talked to Ernst-Jan Pfauth (founder) and Peter Evers (editor) and we all feel like celebrating it soon…On the 19th of march we will know whether we will win or lose - not that it matters much to us, we feel honoured to be in the same list with Frankwatching, Mensmerk, The Next web
and Usarchy.com.

this three couldn’t handle itThe weblog of Peter is beginning to shape up a bit, but I have problems with making two sidebars - the CSS from the theme I used, uses a lot of % and px; and it makes it hard to align things correct. When working on Peter’s weblog I am having second thoughts about my own weblog-design. Not that I hate it; but it does need some work. Today I made some homemade Mulled apple juice with some cider - what a threat in this stormy weather!

Strange job…February 26

Yesterday a friend from the Lichtmacht called me ‘Hey man! you got any free time tonight? You can get some serious money, interested?’. Yes I was interested, turns out I had to be a sleeping in a 150-year old fortress somewhere near Utrecht. There was a film-set which needed some babysitting for the night to make sure everything was still there this morning. The fortress had many halls with many deserted rooms; the perfect place to get lost and not be found.

There was food, wine, a WiFi connection and there was a fire to heaten up the room. After the film crew left, I just had to see the rest of the fortress. I brought a big flashlight and started discovering the amazing building. ‘Officers Room’, ‘Meeting Room’, ‘Bathing Room’, everything seemed in the same condition it was 15o years ago; this place is great.

The night was actually very quiet and the comfortable fire made me fall in sleep fast. Today I was invited to do this more often while the film-set is still there. Why not? it’s a great way to do some reading up, and I actually become rich sleeping.
