- Reddit gets an (unofficial) iPhone appToday
-
Since the App Store launched this past summer, it’s seemed a bit odd to me that none of the big social voting sites have launched iPhone apps. Sure, all work on the iPhone’s Safari web browser, and some, like Digg, are even optimized for it, but given how devoted some of those sites users are, it would seem logical to create slick apps for the services. Now there is one — unofficially — for Reddit. The app, made by developer Joseph Pintozzi, showcases the most popular stories on Reddit at any given time in a view optimized for the iPhone. It’s pretty nice, the main page shows the top headlines and clicking on any of them loads the actual story in the Reddit app’s own browser. Clicking on the blue arrows to the right of the headline gives you more options such as seeing all the comments on a story and which Reddit user submitted it. In fact, the Reddit iPhone app only seems to lack one thing: Voting!
Well, technically you can vote if you view the comments on the story and scroll up to the main headline and push the up or down arrow (how you vote on Reddit). You’ll have to login of course, and really this is just the same as using reddit.com in the web browser. There should be an easy way to vote right within the ap
- 10 People to Follow On FriendFeed for the Month of DecemberToday

By Mike Fruchter of MichaelFruchter.com (Twitter/FriendFeed)
It's that time again. The beginning of a new month, and also the time to highlight some unique, new and veteran members to follow on FriendFeed. In being true to one of my core values and practices of "promoting others more then I promote myself ", I like to give back any way possible, and I couldn't think of a more satisfying way of doing it. This time around, thanks to Louis Gray, who is one of FriendFeed's most influential evangelists, I have been given a bigger platform to shine the spotlight onto others.
Previous lists of top FriendFeeders to follow can be found for July, September and November - Birthdays and Photos, From Facebook to Your MacToday

With the surmised official launching of Facebook Connect, it’s evident that Facebook will very well become the center of activity and attention for a good portion of the social web. But why limit this social hub to other online networks? A new application called AddressBookSync lets you match Facebook user photos and birthdays with your Mac OS X address book and your iPhone, simplifying your offline life just a little bit. AddressBookSync does his by matching names from your Facebook friends list to those in your address book. There is an option for “Last Name Only” matching, as well as the ability to select which friends you would and would not like to be synchronized for this application. From then on, future updates for user photos and birthdays will be automated.
AddressBookSync seems pretty basic in its offerings, especially as other applications such as Plaxo have been synchronizing aspects of your social network with offline applications and address books for some time now. But if you’re a Mac user and you’d like to have your address book updated with the ever-changing user photos of your friends, be sure to check this app out. Download - Is Blogging Dead? (Wait: Is It That Time Of Year Again?)Today

The “is blogging dead” meme (although no one has the chutzpah to call it what it is) rears its interesting head today over at the FastForward Blog — and much like other memes about blogging (there is / is not an A-list, your blog really is / is not a blog if you have / do not have comments, its impossible to start a blog these days, etcetera etcetera), will likely never go away, and pops up from time to time on the meme-radar.
Granted, I have not been blogging as long as some graybeards, so the earliest recollection I can recall was when Technorati revealed some data on blogging which suggested that it had plateaued off. It was last year, as I recall. Lots of handwringing around that time. Twitter existed. Facebook existed.
I think my position then is the same as it is now. For those who like / love / accept blogging, the diversification of online voice is an inevitable non-threatening event. There were a LOT of blogs pre-Twitter (and even pre-Facebook) that were false starts and abortive events in the making. There were many people calling themselves “bloggers” who were not really — in the sense that they tried it, then gave it up. Wasn’t really their cup of tea.
And I think that is, as they say, totally “ok”.
The explosion of the ways people can share their op
