- Arbenting’s Blog Action Day 08 Extended CoverageToday

For Blog Action Day 08, Arbenting did a post to promote awareness for this year’s cause, Poverty. The article was ’Starving Artists’ Unite To Fight True Poverty, and in it, we vowed to keep the fight going for a whole year. Doing what we could to continue waking people up from their apathetic slumber, which has actually contributed to this problem. So we dedicated a year, one post a month!
Coverage
We highlighted a couple of other designer’s efforts in this fight. One of which has had an amazing response. Jacob Cass of Just Creative Design has started a group writing project for charity which has garnered a fantastic buffet of prizes for those who participate.
We started a Designer Poverty Awareness flickr group where users could submit theme based designs for showcase each month from an announced poverty statistic. We did not offer any prizes, and we got one submission. And though it will be a good and powerful one, it will be a short showcase this month. We are hoping that more p

So about two months ago the internet buzz was roaring and more importantly raving about the launch of Google’s new web browser, Chrome. The online dialed in masses were rushing to download the ultra lightweight, turbo browser that was promising to revolutionize web surfing as we all knew it. We braced ourselves for the comprehensive tide of change to sweep through cyberspace, waiting for it’s wake to alter the world wide web. And we are still waiting, months later.In the beginning
There was loads of promise pervading the framework that Google had assembled and adeptly delivered, but the shortcomings that limited it’s seamless introduction into the average users routine still have yet to be fully resolved. Having been based on familiar standards, the community assumed that it would only be a short matter of time before the plugins that make our online lives so much simpler were soon to be exploding across the web as well. But everything since, has been so under the radar that Chrome, in large part, is being forgotten about. This potential filled program has just been left out on the doorstep waiting for some kind family to take it in and nurture it the way it deserves.

We journeyed around town once more to capture this pack for the public and we hope that you may find a use for them. As always with an Arbenting freebie, these textures are free for both personal and commercial use.

Upcoming at Arbenting
One more for the vaults wraps up as we move towards tomorrow’s horizon and the week that waits with it. Here at Arbenting we have a full week planned, and we are as excited about all the goodness that is coming as we are about all the new subscribers that we have! For our Monday Freebie this week, we have a new Arbenting Texture Pack for download, and on Tuesday look for a sort of follow-up article on Google Chrome. Our Inspiration in Color series goes purple this Friday so be sure to stop in and check that out. And we will also have the next installation of our Blog Action Day Extended Coverage, which will also double as an entry in Jacob Cass’ Group Writing Contest he has going to help the cause. As we said, it’s a full week here, and we will see you on the other side.
We also have an Arbenting announcement about an upcoming launch for our latest venture Dead Wings Designs. This is the darker side of our design endeavors as we explore snowboard and skateboard creation. The site will launch officially on 01/01/09, but in the meantime we have a twitter account set up for Dead Wings, for anyone interested who would like to start getting updates on what is to come on that front. We will also be putting a blog on the site to keep the
