Def Leppard Slams Fakes Motley Crue and Poison
Okay I can accept Poison but HaHaHa heHe ha Ha Har!!!!
You gotta be kidding! Right!
Def Leppard, the kings of tacky synth rock, going after Motley Crue (again, Poison I accept).
The Leppards have done zip for hard rock with their trademark “fake” sounds year after year after year. They’re a relic of the 80’s that can’t come to grips that they should have stayed in the 80’s.
To the Def’s: Have you listened to the Crue’s “Generation Swine” and “Motley Crue”? Have you noticed how they have experimented with their sound, willing to take risks.
Don’t compare, you’re making yourselves look even more irrelevant … sadly!
Once again: maniacal laugher … :-)
- A Cold Night, Asthma, a Panic Attack and U23DJune 11
-

Holy fucking cow was I a shaking at the end of it.
The night started out with me running late, standing in the city (Melbourne, Australia) waiting for a fucking tram - eg: La Trobe Street at 6.30pm, forget about catching a tram.
Giving up on the tram I started a maniacal walk towards my destination seeing that I was running late. It’s cold. I’m unfit. And my lungs are puffing and being stretched. I’m a little annoyed.
I get there. Sweaty, though it’s a cold night. My heart’s racing (unfit, remember) and I grab a coffee latte to settle down a little (a xanax would have been better!!!).
Once settled into my seat, the warm room starts playing havoc with my cold lungs. In other words, I start having a little asthma. Great, just Great! A few puffs on the little blue puffer thingy. Nothing.
Of course, this turns into a mini panic attack as I’m willing the asthma to “piss off” while trying to calm the rising panic while at the same time I’m awaiting …
…U23D
Firstly, let me tell you: I’m a big U2 fan.
U2 3D is a rock concert on film like nothing before.
Up close and very personal, via the impressive IMAX theater (ie: small room, massive screen and near-perfect sound (15,000 watt digital surround sound) - it’s the largest film format in the world, ten times larger than the traditional cine
- Has the Borders Concept Failed in Australia?June 9
-

Well I hope not - because I damn well love the concept: browsing through thousands of books, being able to sit in a comfy couch and have a lazy read over a cafe latte … and at times, buying something. :-)
But news via SmartCompany.com.au is out that Border’s has been offloaded onto Angus & Robertson.
Now, no offense to A&R, but their bookstores are not a haven for book lovers or those that like to browse, sift, sip etc., So my fear is that what we knew of Borders will soon be fading. But…
This, from Angus & Robertson…
Borders’ experience-based model invites customers to browse books, magazines, music and DVDs, with cafes in most stores. It’s a model which has proven popular in the local market, and targets a different demographic with its premium format and wide range of products.
Let’s hope they stick with this “experience-based” model as it would be a massive shame if the Australian market couldn’t handle such a concept.
I have a funny (gut instinct) feeling, but in many such acquisitions and mergers and takeovers … things generally tend to change. Not tomorrow, but wait a few months.
- Welcome to Australia, iPhoneJune 9

Further to my ranting on the iPhone and all the BS behind it (BTW, don’t you just love the raw, stream-of-consciousness, gonzo-ish writing… I do)
It’s nice to see that it’s now official: A Release Date in Australia: July 11
The new iPhone will cost from $US199 ($209.32) for the 8GB model to $US299 ($314.50) for 16GB. The pricing would apply internationally, Mr Jobs said.
The pricing would apply internationally, Mr Jobs said - Definitely be watching on that one.
But in The Australian, they report…
However, it is not clear how much the device will sell for in Australia.
Hmmm.
For would-be Australian users, the picture is far from clear … The new 3G iPhone will also be available locally on July 11 but other key details such as pricing are not mentioned in any of the official announcements.
Okay. So I’m guessing a nice hefty price for the iPhone. Sigh!

So far, Vodafone and Optus will be the carriers of the iPhone in Australia.
So, after all the buzz and hype it’
- Excuse me while I throw up (or the Apple Show rocks on)June 9

Boo-ya with all the hype and buzz and fawning and madness over Apple, Steve Jobs, iPhone 2.0 today. Right now. Being blogged, Twittered, whatever live. Right Now. Yes, this very minute.
TechCrunch has gone ga-ga over it. Twitter will probably crumble to pieces. Oh the mayhem!
The lights go down, the music comes alive and bang U2 hit the stage with a thumping Vertigo Umm, no it’s just Mr Jobs in a turtle neck sweater doing his usual razzamatazz whatever he does.
Rumours of the iPhone v2 being priced at $199.
Nice.
Now fucking release the damn thing in Australia!!!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Now I love Apple and Macs - they’re cool gadgets. Classy. Nice. Stylish. All Design. I’m swaying heavily into moving on from my PC and going full-on with a Mac.
And yet they have a tiny market share of the … market! I guess they’re happy with what, a 5-10% market share in computers. The iPhone is a different story (for now). The iPod was a smash hit and then the competitors came along with just-as-good, if not better, music players - hint, hint: iRiver is my favourite.
So once again, off with the Hollywood hype and buzz and bullshit and release the damn thing in Australia and lets see what happens.

Note: I’d like to apologize in advance to all the Apple fanatics out there who might get offended by this post. I’m deeply sorry.
