Canadian Blog Awards Round 1 Voting is OpenNovember 27

Nominee_008x1502 A bit late with this news - but Round 1 of Canadian blog awards voting is open til mid-day Nov 29th.  MyNameIsKate.ca has been nominated in "Professional/Career" category.  A vote is always appreciated!!

My lovely wife has been nominated in the "Personal Blog" category.

I'm so thankful to the team over at the CBA for all the hard work they put in!  Big kudos to them!  If you have a minute or two, check out the awards.  There are so many great Canadian bloggers - take a few moments to check out one or two you're not familiar with.  You'll be pleased with the talent you discover!

We are changing as a society. Personal and professional lines are blurring. Extended families are all the more extended with the ability to"friend" the merest whiff of an acquaintance on social networks.  Our deepest voyeuristic impulses are honed the more folks we follow on Twitter - yet we often forget that there are those who spy on us.

  • We were shocked to learn that The Hospital for Sick Children needs $2.5 million to replace most of its beds, cribs, mattresses and stretchers. Parts for aging equipment can no longer be found, and the hospital is spending funds to rent specialty mattresses because the older-style mattresses contribute to skin breakdown, a condition suffered by many of the tiny patients. We hope the SavvyMom community can come together to reach our goal of $20,000 to buy 50 crib mattresses for SickKids.

  • We’re a group of Canadian publishers’ reps based in Ontario, who book talk our favourite reads of the upcoming season to librarians and school teachers. We also love to recommend movies, new DVDs, restaurants, and the latest quilting or knitting shops we discover on the road. Since we read far more books than we ever have time to talk about in our presentations, we hope to use this blog to continue our recommendations, and meet other bookish travellers.
