Welcome to Xoopit’s team blog. Xoopit was founded in 2006 by Bijan Marashi and Jonathan Katzman as the first company dedicated to bringing the power of the social web to the world's email systems. Photo browsing in Gmail just got fasterNovember 25

Do you feel the need for speed? Then try out Xoopit's new photo browsing experience. Xoopit's updated photo browser is the fastest way to find, browse and share photos in your email. We also resolved some of the confusion on how to get back to Gmail from viewing photos in Xoopit. The new release helps a lot on that front as well. If you click from the photo bar or from the search results, we will show the photo in a modal dialog box. This allows you to easily just close the box or click on the greyed out Gmail to get back to what you were doing. And you now always see the context from which you launched Xoopit. Let us know what you think!

Thanks for your patience todayNovember 14

Throughout the day we diagnosed and fixed the problem behind delays in email processing today. Thanks again for your patience today. By morning time accounts should be caught up on all new mail. For our newest users, Xoopit will be indexing your oldest mail until its all caught up.

Xoopit taking some time to catch up on emailNovember 13

Just wanted to let folks know that we're running behind on indexing email today for new and existing users, so you may not be seeing new media show up in Xoopit.  Our apologies for the inconvenience.  We'll let you know when we're back up to speed.  Thanks for your patience.

Compose an Email by SearchingOctober 29

Picture_3_4 Have you ever opened up a new tab while composing a mail just to do quick search? Now you can do this directly in Gmail using Xoopit's Compose Quick Search feature.

Using the power of Google you can now add a variety of interesting content directly from searches to your mail. Let's walk through an example.

I recently wrote to a potential recruit about coming to Xoopit for one of our awesome home cooked lunches. First, I searched for Xoopit and clicked the Maps tab. With a single click, I added a map of our address and link to driving directions. Clicking on the Video tab got me the recent PopSiren feature on Xoopit. Boom! Video added. (Somehow channeled Steve Jobs, sorry). Then I recalled a recent blog post in Network World. Typed in "xoopit networkworld" and added it to the email.

Finally as a P.S., I knew the recruit was a photo buff. I wanted to get his opinion on the new Canon 50D. One quick search and a link to Amazon was added.

Thanks to Xoopit's Compose Quick Search feature, I was able to write an email with almost zero typing. Let us know how you use Compose Quick Search and send us

Xoopit takes "Best Overall Award" at Yahoo! Open Hack Day 2008September 15

This weekend Yahoo took a huge step forward in opening up it's services to the development community at their 2008 Open Hack event.  Xoopit's own Jerry (not to be confused with Mr. Yang), got his hack ON this weekend and brought home Yahoo's "Best Overall Award" for hacking Xoopit directly into Yahoo's Mail Environment.  Thanks for representin', Jerry.   ;)

The weekend was a blast and there were a lot of really cool hacks including Tripit's sweet Travel Planner for Yahoo Mail (Tripit won the award for Best User Experience).

The Yahoo Mail team did a stellar job hosting and helping their developer community through lots of hands on support in their snazzy Yahoo Mail Lounge.  They went out of their way to understand our vision and challenges around developing for the platform and as a third party developer, felt like Yahoo is working hard to create a great experience for us.  Mark, Steph, Brian, Talia, Scott, Jason, John, Erik, and the crew, congratulations for being first to market with your developer program for Open Mail!!!

Overall, we believe that the Yahoo's vision for transforming Yahoo into an open platform for next generation applications is awesome.  Yahoo has a huge number of properties with great content, so it's going to be really interesting to see what happens over the next 18 months as these new services begin to take root.
