- Linda Has a Talk with the Blog Traffic GenieToday
-
Note: The following is completely ridiculous. I know it is. I totally admit its purpose is to get you to buy something, make no mistake about that. Let’s say you have absolutely no intention of buying anything. That’s cool. In that case, treat it as a fun thought exercise to clarify your own ideas about what kind of traffic you want for your blog. Whether you end up giving me your money or not, I think you’ll learn something worthwhile. Have fun!
Linda (not a real person) is a mother with grown children who still live at home. She recently started a blog as a way to get her feelings and thoughts out (she’s very political in general and passionate about environmental issues). She resonates with the idea of "adding her voice" to the chorus of mothers all over the world who are discovering blogging. She learned about making money online, recently, and became aware of how it might be possible to monetize her blog while feeding her passion at the same time. She put some ads on her blog and has seen a few dollars come in from that. She wonders if she could do more with this: after all, the economy doesn’t seem to be settling down and prices keep rising. She didn’t start blogging to make
- Blogger Biographies Series: Jenny GniadeckiYesterday
-
I’m doing a special series of guest posts this week on Remarkablogger. I’ve invited several up-and-coming bloggers to describe how they got started in blogging, how it helps their business, and how blogging helped them grow as a human being. This post is by Jenny Gniadecki, whom I met at SOBCon ‘08 and thought she was completely awesome.
Hi. I’m Jen. I’m a freelance writer living in Chicagoland (for those that may not know, people say they live in Chicagoland so they don’t have to admit they live in a suburb no one has ever heard of.) I currently write for a couple Fortune 500 companies (and a few smaller companies) and am looking to do more financial writing. My secret-Spidey-superpower is explaining complex things in ways that are easy to understand - sorely lacking in the financial sector. Plus I bought my first stocks last week and I’m hooked!
Guest posts are so yummy. They allow me to share things I might not feel entirely comfortable posting on my own blog. My apologies in advance if this isn’t like the other entries. It got a little schmaltzy and I’m not sure how that happened.
- Remarkanotes: A Different Kind of Email ListOctober 3

Can’t see the video? Watch it on the blog.
Remarkanotes: Short Little Notes and Cool Stuff from Me
I always wanted to do an email list. Any blogger who is serious about marketing a business or making money online needs an email list. But an email list like everyone else’s would be worthless. I wouldn’t want to waste my time with such a thing and neither would you.
So I waited and thought. And thought. And thought. Meanwhile, every other blogger on the planet is coming out with email lists. But I didn’t because I didn’t know what the unique value a Remarkablogger email list should bring, yet.
Obviously, I did figure it out, or I wouldn’t now be doing this.
Remarkanotes is going to be short emails with awesome links to cool stuff and “back channel” tips and observations by me. The operative word here is short. In other words, the opposite of how most people try to do email newslettery-type things. That’s why I’m calling it “Remarkanotes”.I will not ever spam you or distribute your email address to anyone else for any reason. You will have to confirm your subscription when you sign up (this is called double opt-in, and it adheres to the highest ethical standards). You can unsubscribe with one click, no
- The Remarkablogger WordPress SEO Teleseminar - It’s 1am and I’m Just Now Coming DownOctober 2
-
As I write this, I’m listening to the audio of my WordPress SEO Teleseminar and coming down from the event. It’s about 1 in the morning. I wanted to go to sleep earlier, but I was so jazzed from the seminar that I couldn’t.
I usually have an audio post on Thursdays, but I’m just not going to be able to get anything edited on time today.
What I want to do instead is thank all the participants in last night’s seminar. You guys had some great questions! I’ve been very happy with the feeback I’ve received so far on the seminar. During and after the seminar, the Twitter users in the seminar got on and voiced their feelings:
- Growing Blog Traffic: Remarkablogger Blog Seminar (and contest!)October 1
-
I want to tell you about my next event, which is all about growing blog traffic.
Because if there’s one thing bloggers want more than anything in the world, it’s traffic. Traffic is like a drug. It doesn’t matter how much you get, it’s never enough and you always want more. The law of diminishing returns sets in. Traffic levels that used to make your heart leap in your chest now make you yawn. And if they dip down below whatever level is unacceptable to you, you get angry and frustrated, and you worry it’ll never climb back up.
And if you’re trying to make money from your blog, more traffic means more money.
I kept my last seminar small, exclusive, and, let’s be honest, not that cheap. (SEO is a high-value arena. There are technical aspects of SEO and there is definitely a mystique about it… which the attendees of my seminar had dispelled for them).
But I want to take a different approach with the Growing Blog Traffic Live Teleseminar.
- Instead of allowing only 12 people to attend, I’m going to allow 50 (if it sells out at 50, I can’t say at this point if will extend it or not)
