- WTB: hx4700 battery latch switchToday
-
Recently, I scored a "parts" hx4700 off of eBay for cheap in an attempt to repair it (and put a better screen in my working one). It turns out that a broken battery latch switch (the part that tells the system that the battery's unlatched and to kick in the backup battery to keep the RAM alive during a battery swap) was the only thing preventing the unit from turning on. After removing the broken switch and bridging the contacts as if the switch were closed, the unit works just fine (albeit being yet another hx4700 without backup battery capability)!
However, before reselling that unit, I want to repair it properly. That means that I need a replacement switch. Unfortunately, PPCTechs.com and ipaqrepair.co.uk do not sell that very switch from what I can see, and I don't know of any other good sources for such a part. Buying a whole motherboard just for that switch would be overkill, not to mention more expensive.
Does anyone here have a working switch they can pry off of a dead hx4700 motherboard or something along those lines? - Opera Mini 4.2 Beta working on x51v wm 6.1Yesterday

I posted about this before without the instructions and thought Id post about it again for anyone who wanted to try it out, since I made a post on getting it to work on the x30 board...more and more I am using this super quick browser rather than firing up my laptop to check my boards, etc. Hope more people like it better than the skyfire browser I posted
I've uploaded all the needed files to ftp
J9_6.1.1_MIDP_2_WM5_VGA-ARM.rar and the opera files
Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire
1 Make a folder on your pocket pc named (without the quotes) "J9-MIDP" to your Storage Card (to the root, so that you have it as SD Card/J9-MIDP) I used total commander to do this.
2 DL J9 MIDP (J9 is for 2003SE) Unzip the J9 MIDP.rar on your desktop and put everything that you just unzipped into the J9-MIDP folder you just created on your pocket pc, along with the two opera jad/jar files.
3 Go into the folder that says bin, launch the emulator.exe file (you might want to make a shortcut to this for the future).
4 Click install it will ask you the url type SD Card/J9-MIDP/opera-mini-4.2.13057-advanced-en.jar.
Click the Launch button with opera mini 4.2-4.2 highlighted and you should be ready to try it out.
Have fun. Please post if you need any help, or if you got it to work - x51v for sale, Navteq GPS, Rhino Alum case $200!!!Yesterday

Hey guys,
I have lurked this site for ages when I got my Axim, never joined. But I have decided to move to a iPAQ. I'm regretfully selling my beloved Axim x51v for $200. Included is a Navteq GPS system (bluetooth, if you haven't read the review section!), GPS car-dash mount for Axim, Rhino aluminum case, 2GB SD card, 512 CF card, soft leather case for Axim. And all of the necessary cables and such...
Let me know if you are interested. This site has been the ultimate resource for my Axim, and I feel bad about lurking for so darn long!!! But I think I will need you guys for my iPAQ!!!!
Thanks!

- So which phone should I get?Yesterday

I know this is such a horrible newb question, but up until recently I haven't really had much interest in getting a fancy phone. I was hoping maybe someone on here could point me in the right direction on making the leap. I apologize if any of this message makes you cringe. I admit I'm an ignorant, naive, lost soul in need of some guidance. Lol
I currently have some crappy LG phone from Verizon. I make phone calls with it, text (a lot)... and that's about it. I've had the phone for a couple years. Prior to that I had been with Cingular for years with some garbage nokia. The only reason I even switched to Verizon was because I saw someone using VZNav for turn-by-turn GPS directions and loved it. I'd say I use that GPS (I know it's weak compared to a true GPS like TomTom) about as much as I use the phone to make calls. I use VZNav all the time and definitely value turn-by-turn directions. But I pay $10 bucks a month for it and in total my bill from Verizon is over $100 bucks a month thanks to the data plan, unlimited texting, etc.
I recently started exploring the idea of getting a phone like the iphone. The main draw for me (as you might guess) is the web browser. It would be nice to be able to surf the web whenever and wherever. I like to keep up on sports scores and such...
So the main phones I've been trying to compare are AT&T's Iphone, Verizon's Blackberry Storm and T-Mobile's G1. They all seem to have d
