SBSettings: Bring Toggles to iPhone Home ScreenYesterday

i

I have reviewed WifiToggle before, that it simply adds a Wifi Toggle switch to iPhone screen. It’s a very simple application but it saves me thousand of minutes to dig deep into Settings and just turn Wifi on/off (Hey, I used to turn off Wifi to save battery). For those who have upgraded and jailbreak to firmware 2.2, you may find this application is not no longer compatible with firmware 2.2 (at the time I wrote this post). Here comes to SBSettings to rescue. SBSettings from Cydia offers WifiToggle and even more.

As mentioned by the author, SBSettings is a full replacement of BossPrefs and it brings all important toggles (which may be hidden under Settings) directly into your iPhone Home Screen. Say, to turn off Wifi, normally you tap “Settings” ->”Wifi” -> On/Off. With SBSettings, this can just be done on iPhone home screen with an instant tap.

iPhone 2.2 Upgrade: Jailbreak iPhone 3G using QuickPwn… Please Take NoteNovember 30

i

I have received a number of emails about when the jailbreak guide for firmware 2.2 on iPhone 3G (for Windows) will be available. Understand that you’re awaiting the upgrade, however, I suggest you read through the following carefully before jailbreaking iPhone 3G on Windows for firmware 2.2.

By the time I wrote this post, QuickPwn is the only tool available on Windows to jailbreak iPhone 3G. But take note before you consider to use it to jailbreak.

As mentioned in earlier post, the current version of QuickPwn can jailbreak iPhone 3G but the jailbreak may potentially impact any future unlock of iPhone 3G. Quote from my original post,

The new version of QuickPwn or PwnageTool will NOT unlock your iPhone 3G. iPhone D

iPhone Ads in Japan: The iPhone & Softbank DogNovember 30

i

When iPhone was launched in Hong Kong, Apple run a series of iPhone commercials. They are not new. The iPhone Ads was exactly the same as the one when iPhone was first launched in US but in Chinese.

In Japan, the iPhone commerical, however, is quite different. Softbank, the official iPhone carrier in Japan, recently launched a number of iPhone Ads, that are very much away from the Apple style. It’s the iPhone and Softbank dog. I love the original iPhone commercial with white/black background. But I also love to see something different. Enjoy!

Do you experience any issues with iPhone Firmware 2.2?November 28

i

I have upgraded to iPhone 2.2 and jailbreak it for more than a week. iPhone 2.2 is really great update. I love the new features (Street view, Podcast download, etc) and find Safari much stable than earlier firmware version. iPhoneAtlas, however, reported that quite a number of iPhone users are experiencing issues with the upgrade:

Users, in droves, continue to report a bevy of issues after the update to iPhone OS 2.2. Among the most serious and widespread problems: disappearing applications (both Apple’s and third-party), loss of WiFi connectivity, loss of 3G or EDGE signal strength and an inability to sync with iTunes.

The issues, reported by iPhoneAtlas’ readers, are mostly related to Wifi, iTunes sync problem and missing applications after installing firmware 2.2. Quoted from
