9/12/2008 Network IssueSeptember 12
Dear MacDock Hosting Customer, This afternoon at approximately 2:14 PM eastern daylight time, we experienced a disruption in our overall network connectivity. The cause of the outage was traced to a switch failure in the core of our network in New York City where several physical data paths converge. Once the problem was correctly identified, we moved to a backup switch and connectivity was restored. Total downtime was exactly 40 minutes. Our network is engineered with enough redundancy that even this worst-case failure should take no more than about 15 minutes to repair, however the nature of the failure was such that it took some extra time to accurately diagnose. Normally a catastrophic switch failure takes all ports down simultaneously. In this case the failure was of a cascading nature leading us to believe initially that the problem was outside of our network completely. Once the true nature of the problem was uncovered, repair time was less than 10 minutes. MacDock has an independently measured and verified overall network reachability of 99.997% over the last 42 months. Our network represents an outstanding price/performance value proposition. We are confident that incidents such as this remain highly unlikely, however we will continue to take whatever steps are required to ensure that we are prepared for any and all network problems at all times. Please accept our apologies for any trouble today's outage may have caused you. Thank You, MacDock Su

PayPal Subscription PaymentsFebruary 8
Effective 3/1/08, MacDock will no longer accept PayPal Subscription Payments. Due to issues within the PayPal subscription system that can cause duplicate payments to be generated, we have decided to stick with the more reliable standard PayPal Invoice payment system. You will still be able to use your PayPal account to send your monthly payment. If you are currently using a PayPal subscription payment, please go ahead and cancel the subscription. This will prevent any possible overpayment from your PayPal account. To cancel your subscription: Login to your PayPal account and go to the "History" subtab of the "My Account" tab. Choose "Subscriptions" from the pull down "Show" menu and press the "Submit" button. Choose the subscription payment to paypal@323inc.com" and click on "Status". You will be taken to a Transaction Details page from which you may cancel your subscription. You can continue to pay for your monthly hosting invoice with PayPal. You'll receive an invoice via email each month which will provide you the option of using PayPal for your payment method.
