- 3 Ways to Develop Unique Blog Post IdeasToday
-
Because blogs need consistent content in order to achieve success, the challenge of developing ideas into useful and interesting posts is never-ending. This is not a new subject for bloggers and there are plenty of posts already written about overcoming bloggers block and how to identify topics to cover.
Rather than repeating these common ideas, I’d like to share with you three specific ways that I use for my own blogging.I have three different blogs of my own and I also do freelance writing for a few others, so my content development techniques aren’t always the same for each blog. However, these three methods have proven to be useful to me, and I think they can help you as well.
1. Focus on Solving Problems
Rather than looking for ideas for blog posts, try to take a completely different approach and identify some common challenges or problems for your readers. At this point don’t worry about blog content, just focus on the readers and what issues they have. Once you have identified some, brainstorm as to ways that you could help them with these problems through your blog posts. Do some research if you need to, but solving problems is a tested and proven way to build a loyal audience.
This is one of the biggest approaches I use for developing content here at Traffikd. Most of the readers are bloggers who are looking for more traffic and interested in social media in particular. I try to identify issues that they may ha
- 7 Factors to Separate a Good Niche Social Media Site from a Bad OneNovember 25
-
Throughout a number of posts on this blog I’ve written about niche social media sites and their potential to be an excellent source of traffic for blogs. The idea behind niche sites as opposed to major social media sites like Digg, Reddit and StumbleUpon is that the visitors you receive from niche sites will be far more targeted, and generally higher quality traffic. Because the niche sites focus on content that relates to a particular topic, the visitors that arrive at your site should have more of an interest in your blog and will be more likely to come back in the future.
The major problem with this is that there are so many niche sites out there, and many of them are a waste of time if you’re trying to market to their audience. A topic that has not been discussed on this blog in the past is the differences between a good niche site and a bad one. For the purposes of this article I’m referring to a site that is worth your time as a user and a marketer as a good site, and one that is not worth your time as a bad one. The good and bad are relative to this discussion in terms of marketing and exposure, it’s not meant to say that is necessarily good or bad in any other way.
Why Does This Matter?
Most bloggers are looking to gain more exposure from social media, which includes more visitors, new visitors, i
- 10 Critical Elements to a Profitable BlogNovember 20
-
Building a successful and profitable blog does not happen by accident. In order to achieve a high level of success, a blog needs to have a number of different characteristics. In this post we’ll look at ten things that all blogs must have in order to achieve long-term, sustained success.
1 - Quality Content
The most important part of a successful and profitable blog is the content. A blog is really nothing without content. Of course, there are a variety of strategies when it comes to content. You could provide informative articles, you could break news (or attempt to break news, you could write humorous content, you could write opinion pieces, etc. Whatever your approach, the content needs to be of high quality.
2 - Unique Content
Not only does the content of your blog need to be of quality, but it should also be unique. If readers can get essentially the same information at any number of other blogs or websites, you’ll have a much hard time converting visitors into repeat visitors and subscribers. With unique content you’ll attract more links and recommendations, and those who arrive at your blog will be more likely to subscribe because they won’t want to miss future posts.
3 - Targeted Audience
Hopefully before you started your blog you took some time to think about who you would be specifically targeting and catering your content towards. Without a targeted audience the blog will lack direction and g
- 10 Things to Do with Your Feed FooterNovember 17

Bloggers and theme designers are always in search of ways to maximize the potential of screen space and improve the effectiveness of the blog as a result. Whether you’re working to improve your sidebar in effort to increase pageviews, adding related links at the end of your posts to build internal links, or improving your blog footer, there is an almost constant effort to get more out of the blog.
One area that is commonly overlooked is the feed. Much like the blog itself, the feed can be enhanced to make a blog more profitable or effective for subscribers. In particular, this post will look at the subject of the feed footer and how it can be used for something beneficial. If you’re like me you may have installed one of a handful of WordPress plugins to work with the feed footer, but neglected to keep this up-to-date and useful for subscribers.
10 Ways to Get More Out of Your Feed Footer:
1 - Add a Why not put a brief statement in your footer to ask for readers to vote for your posts if they appreciate the information and if they think others would like it as well? FeedBurner’s FeedFlare can allow you to easily add some links for voting, but you could also includ
- Community News Section Has Been Added!November 12
-
Just a quick update to let everyone know that I have added a community news section to the right sidebar of the site. I’ll be adding links to posts that I come across on topics related to social media and blogging that I think are worth sharing.
You’ll notice below the list there is a link to submit news and a link for the news feed. First, the feed will be kept separate from the main RSS feed, so if you’re subscribed to the main feed already you don’t have to worry about getting unwanted news updates. Nothing will change unless you subscribe to the news feed.
If you have something that you would like to share in the community news, please feel free to use the submission form, that’s what it’s there for. You are welcome to submit your own posts as well as those of others, but not everything will get posted, they’ll all be moderated for relevance and quality.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know. (There may be some upcoming changes to the styling of the news list. It’s 2:15 AM and I can’t think straight at this point).
